The very first thing— the moment you walk into this so-called “restaurant”— the waiter mocks you with some silly, stupid joke when you ask a serious question. He even admits himself that their “biryani” isn’t actually biryani, just rice with chicken. Excuse me? Then, while ordering naan, he literally forces us to take an extra portion when we already had plenty of food on the table. In the end, that so-called “naan” turned out to be nothing more than frozen pita bread, and we had to throw it away. What a complete joke.
And don’t even get me started on their so-called Chicken 65. Since when does Chicken 65 come with smelly fried eggs tossed on top of it? Absolutely disgusting. Their “Chili Chicken” was just bland fried chicken with onions— not a single piece of capsicum in sight. Who even serves it like that?
The chicken biryani? A complete insult to the dish. It was clearly reheated frozen rice, lazily mixed with their base curry and topped with 4–5 tiny pieces of dry chicken breast. Everyone I know makes better biryani at home than this cheap, pathetic excuse for one. To top it all, we ordered 7 curries— but guess what? He brings us 8, without asking, and charges us for the extra! Pure scam.
And this so-called “4.8 rating”? What a massive mistake on my part to trust it. Clearly fake, or bought reviews, because every single other honest comment says the same thing. This is not even an Indian restaurant— every single curry tasted identical, all drowning in the same bland tomato paste. The butter chicken didn’t even have cream or kasoori methi. Seriously? Even the most basic Indian restaurants know that.
I’m genuinely shocked this place is still in business. The fact that people around here seem happy to eat this garbage is beyond me.
The only half-decent thing? The bathroom was clean. That’s it. Atmosphere was average at best, and service— well, service is supposed to be decent everywhere, so nothing to praise here.
Honestly, this was one of the most frustrating, disappointing dining experiences...

As someone who frequently enjoys authentic Indian cuisine, especially with the abundance of excellent options in Seattle and its surrounding cities, including Indian-style burgers, pizzas, and even bakeries, I wasn't expecting to find something comparable in Yakima. But while searching for a lunch spot, I came across The Spice, an Indian restaurant that had incredibly high ratings. Though I hesitated at first, the reviews convinced me to give it a try. I'm glad I did.
From the moment the food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The flavors were on par with some of the best Indian dishes I’ve had in the Seattle area. Rich, authentic, and perfectly seasoned. The service was equally impressive, warm, attentive, and welcoming. It’s no wonder the place had a steady flow of dine-in customers and frequent pickup orders during my visit.
If you're a local craving something exotic or just passing through Yakima and in the mood for Indian food, The Spice is a must-visit. It’s the kind of place where a hungry traveler can enjoy a comforting meal and feel genuinely cared for.
