This is just an honest review. I went to Wink studio on November 23 of this year to get my eyebrows tinted. Maggie was very kind and lovely to talk to during the service. However, as it is stated in the procedure on their website, I was not given any kind of forms to sign, nor was I asked how I like my eyebrows to look when I apply my makeup to them. Before any product was applied to my face, I did inform Maggie of my skin sensitivity and how a DIY brow tint went wrong in the past and how I had a pretty severe allergic reaction to it. However, no precautions were taken to ensure the product was safe to use on my skin. The service only took about 20 minutes to complete and didn’t cost much. (Not that it matters much, but I wasn’t very pleased with the result anyways.)
However, just a few hours later, my eyebrows became very itchy and red. Since I already knew what was happening, I brought out the Neosporin and aloe gel and applied it to my brows. But the reaction only got worse and began to swell, blister and ooze Interstitial fluid as well as ooze pus from every individual hair. I called and had a refund issued to me which I am very grateful for. However, when I asked why a patch test wasn’t provided to me, even when they were made aware of my skin sensitivity and proneness to a reaction, I was told that it isn’t “legally required to perform patch tests in Washington State, so they don’t do them” plus it would’ve been “too inconvenient for the professional in question.” The issue here is, while what I was told, was technically correct, it IS legally required to follow any and all suggestions/recommendations and instructions listed on the product’s manufacturing instruction packet.
To which I found, based on the product that was used on my skin, that a patch test is recommended for this product, especially if the client has made you aware of any existing conditions. And it is recommended that if the client does inform you of this, that the professional in question discontinues the service as to avoid this particular situation. What did upset me was how when I presented Maggie with my situation, she seemed rather urgent to get me to leave (understandable since she was with a client at the time of my arrival) but she just kind of giggled, told me she remembered me telling her about my allergies and skin sensitivity, but chalked my situation up to be “just bad luck.”
As someone who works in the beauty industry, and who HAS to stay updated with all beauty procedures and legal requirements as provided by Washington State, my experience goes to show that these licensed professionals are not as knowledgeable or as skilled as I had hoped they would be. And they certainly aren’t prepared to give 100% accurate information to someone who has gone through negligent behavior. Just because you’ve “never had this happen before” doesn’t mean you shouldn’t adopt safety related practices. And especially with the virus, you almost have to make sure you’re taking all the safety precautions you can. Because, technically, since they aren’t having their clients sign liability forms, following their own procedures as well as the procedures required by WA state, they’re putting themselves in a very scary position. I wouldn’t...
Read moreRecently moved into town and I was squeezed in for a fill as a new customer which was above and beyond service in itself as they scheduled me for a 9am appointment when they don't normally start until 10 because I had to work in the afternoon. I spoke with someone on the phone to set up my first appointment and they had me send pics of the current condition of my lashes which was such a brilliant idea so they could evaluate how much time would be needed.
Not being from Yakima, I wasn't sure what to expect in a remote town in the middle of Washington so I was pleasantly surprised to walk into such a beautiful, dedicated lash salon. By dedicated, I mean that lash extension are their only business. The establishment is right on par and even beyond what you'd find in a larger city (I've been to ones in Chicago, Houston, Denver, San Diego, and Seattle due to relocating with work). I was referred to them by fellow working professional after I noticed how natural her fill looked (I really couldn't tell they were extensions) and she had recently moved to the area from Hawaii herself.
Wendy took her time to not miss a detail with my lashed and I woke up at the end of my appointment a refreshingly new woman. They sell eyemasks and lash serum here as any solid lash salon should. I definitely recommend going with Wink.
My only current unfulfilled wish is they had an online booking...
Read moreCayla is a life saver! I started getting lash extensions over a year and a half ago, but at a different studio. Due to some really bad extensions at that studio, almost all of my lashes were non-existent. Cayla, before I was even a client, gave me suggestions on how to help my own lashes grow back. After two months of not getting extensions, and following Cayla's suggestion, all my lashes were back and I was ready for new extensions. I went Wink and met Cayla.
Cayla is so very professional, personable, and most of all one of the best esthetician around. Both she and Maggie work tirelessly to make you comfortable while you are getting any number of their great services! If you are looking for the most beautiful, natural looking lashes, tints for lashes and brows, and waxing, make an appointment right away with Cayla or Maggie at Wink. I promise you, you will NOT be...
