I'm torn because I really love this places food, but their service and consistency is very lacking. The food always tastes fresh and great, but what you get changes constantly. I always order the chicken shawarma sandwich. Sometimes they add fries, sometimes not, sometimes it's almost all pickled veggies, sometimes fresh, sometimes a mix. I understand having certain things at different times but also I would enjoy SOME consistency with the toppings, but that's my only food gripe.
Biggest gripe is service. There's multiple groups of people I've seen working the counter and the two younger gentleman have to be my favorite. They did ring us up wrong once and charged us an extra $10 but we didn't realize until we left so we let it go. The larger gentleman seems to always be in a horrible mood. He was incredibly rude to me one evening, gave me the wrong food, and then didn't even apologize when his mistake was realized. Mistakes are perfectly fine, but at least apologize if you were miserable to a person AND messed up their food. I don't want to talk when picking up food, so I used to call it in but we got something different almost every time we called. Switched to ordering online. If you do order ahead, there's a 50/50 chance your stuff is done or right when you get there. Once they only made one sandwich when I ordered two, so I had to wait extra for it to be made, and that one was undercooked. Next time his tablet wasn't even on so he didn't get my order, only started it after I got in there. They also don't offer their combo upgrade for online ordering so you're basically forced to go in and order to make sure it's right, and then you are made to feel like an inconvenience cause you didn't call ahead or order online.
Overall, if you order online and don't care about getting the best deal, it's good food. Is it worth it for the issues I've...
Read moreMy niece called in an order for a gyro fries sandwich meal for $14 and the man who answered was blunt rude and stated how he needed time because he had just walked through the door and they had just opened. When she arrived to pick up the sandwich, he was again rude and used profanity toward my niece. Not to mention that they have repetitively messed up this same order before and the item is never put together with the fries like in the picture and it's often soggy. The most embarrassing part for them is that this sandwich item in particular is supposed to be their special, meaning it should be something that they don't screw up because they make it so often and they're showcasing it. Quite frequently this is the kind of food that comes out of there, but with an attitude of service like his I can understand why this restaurant habitually fails to satisfy. If you go here because you have no other choice, watch out for the short bald man-child with little man syndrome working at the front counter, he hasn't learned how to act around people yet apparently (or how to make a sandwich, sadly). Assuming it's such a problem to make a sandwich meal properly only minutes after opening tells me that there is a lack of prep work done ahead of time, so I would also assume that the food you get may be composed of leftovers and not fresh at all. Lazy prep, terrible service, soggy food, and The Taste is definitely not worth $14. Save your money, or go to the Kabob House, or make it yourself. Any of those routes is a better decision I would give this place half a star if I could. Before you go here you should know what you're...
Read moreIf you've been in Yakima a while, you'll notice that this delicious, new restaurant is in the old kabob house location. The worker informed me that it's only concidence - there's no relationship between the two. Walking inside the restaurant is bright and somewhat bare - fortunately I wasn't coming here to enjoy the decor! There are a bunch of tables and chairs that can be pulled together to accommodate a larger group of people if you decide to eat in. They also accommodate to-go orders.
On this trip, our group split three dinners - a lamb kabob dinner, a lamb shawarma dinner, and a falafel dinner. Each entre comes with humus, Saffran rice, and veggies. The lamb here is amazing! The kabob is essentially delicious chunks of meat and veggies. The shawarma was equally delicious and may have been my favorite dish of the night! I'm not a huge fan of falafel to begin with, but it was solid and the others in my group enjoyed it. With the lamb being so good, it may have made the falafel seem a bit less exciting. Either way, all of the humus had an amazing drizzle of olive oil on top! The veggies were very good......but the saffran stole the show! It was a perfect complement to the delicious lamb! When you go here, seriously consider getting the lamb in some form - you...
