I will not condemn Harbor Freight in its entirety. This Yelm, location is something out of a novel. I'm not white and I don't dress like the locals. I have lived in Roy, Wa for 2 years now. I needed and engine lift and engine stand to pull the motor out of a weekend project. Initially when I entered the store I was greeted and welcomed. Walked to the back the first young gentleman helped me out no problems. Waiting for them to pull the large heavy items. I continued shopping he said he would meet me up front in five minutes. As soon as I picked up a set of standard icon wrenches the store environment quickly changed. I was followed up to the register. Then asked to step forward. When I politely replied. They are pulling something from the back for me I'm just waiting. Everyone got on their headsets and started almost whispering. Fair enough has nothing to do with me then an African American gentlemen was asked to come up front he circled me twice and asked me to step to the register. again I explained I was waiting for the items from the back. I could see two people behind me the cashier is glaring at me and this young man says. "Hmmm" places his hands on the wrenches proceeds to tap on them and tell me everything is going to be ok. I assured him I was feeling super uneasy as he had worked his way into my space and kept looking me up and down as if i was a threat. I replied with simply this is insane you should be ashamed of yourself. I had even offered to pay for items now without them being present. He just held on to the 120.00 wrench set like I was going to run off with it. I left the wrenches and the rest of my purchase and left the store. Reading the other reviews I'm not alone. As a very small figure in the muscle car world I will ask that all my fellow gearheads boycott this "Yelm WA...
Read moreHarbor Freight in Yelm WA. This HF is ok. They have a pretty good selection of stuff. Definitely not the biggest building, but they cram allot inside the 4 walls. Clean establishment and the employees are pretty keen on asking if you found everything you're looking for. My one big present gripe about this place is that I went in one evening; I needed to replace my Pitburgh ratchette I'd lost for work. I wanted to buy TWO more; they had then. Prior that evening, I had seen online that they had then in stock so it'd be a quick-in-/out-done. I swear I'd seen someplace online that these particular ratchettes were $11.99 for the PRO line. Great! I quickly went in, grabbed them, and was charged $17.99/each. O.k, I will triple check my sightings later when not so busy with errands. Later, I got on Facebook and scrolled down, and I saw EXACTLY what I thought I'd seen earlier that day. The exact Pro ratchettes for $11.99/ each instead of the $17.99 each I was smacked with. ANNOYING!!!. so that means the very next day I need to drive BACK to Harbor freight and give them my receipt and show them the sale add from the Internet. I did just that and the employee happily and easily refunded the differance and gave me back like some $12 and change counting extra tax. To which they gave me cash; could've just refunded to my debit card, but ok. My beef with this is that this business is NOT set to AUTOMATICALLY set there registers to charge customers the lowest or sale price_ it's obviously the CUSTOMERS ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY to get the merchandise at that stores hidden low price. Do your homework thourolly BEFORE walking into Harbor freight. Check out other known stores too because they might not be the cheapest for the exact thing you are...
Read moreHarbor freight in and of itself is an awesome store and has a great selection of stuff that you genuinely can't find other places! But on that note if you're going to that store to go shopping be prepared to be followed around everywhere you go by employees! They are not following you to help you, they're following you to make sure that you're not stealing! It gets to the point where it's quite bothersome and it makes your shopping trip kind of unenjoyable to the point where you're possibly going to have to say something to the employees who are at your elbow when you're looking at products! I don't appreciate being treated like I'm a thief because I most certainly am not and I don't appreciate being followed everywhere I go inside of a store! It's uncomfortable, it's weird and we shouldn't feel like the employees are behaving as though every single person that walks in is going to rip them off! I know unfortunately but they should make their customers feel comfortable...
