I experienced discrimination here at the security check. They did not allow us to enter the priority with 3 adults and 2 infants (set of twins) my father came with us to help. Their “policy” was 1 adult per infant through the security check. So we reluctantly agreed.
However I noticed the couple behind me also with an infant and I had waited to see if the security lady would apply the same “policy” to them. And she did not.
They did not have an “extra” priority card to allot the extra “parent” through.
I would understand if the ratio to infant was outrageous. For example 3 adult: 1 baby, or 4 adults:2 babies.
But it was a set of 8month twins in strollers and we had backpacks. I don’t think it was unreasonable for my father to help us. But one of us was turned away and in the end, during the security check, 1 agent ended up carrying our babies while another helped us with bag and stroller break down.
We’ve travelled internationally and had boarded 4 planes with our system and no one has ever turned us away because of 1 adult.
Perhaps this lady woke up on the wrong side of the bed and chose to be difficult with us.
So hypothetically, if this policy was actually enforced on everyone, all parents that are travelling together with 1 infant would have to separate and leave 1 baby with 1 parent to go through security check alone. And if you are a parent, you would understand this can be challenging and frustrating as going through security is stressful on its own.
I went back to ask for the lady’s name but her colleagues did not give it to me and came up with excuses saying “lets ask her if the couple behind you have an extra priority card to allow the other parent through” but we all know that if you go and ask, they will lie to cover their own ass. I stood there, I watched, there was no extra priority card.
I would not write this review if that lady had treated everyone equally and enforced her “policy” on everyone. It is infuriating to see this and honestly, would it really hurt if my father joined us in priority to help as an extra set of hands?
If we had split up and had me and my husband carry 1 baby and my father carrying another, were we also going to get turned away? Or can we use the priority lane for its intended use like the couple with an...
Read moreWe had a horrific experience here at Da Nang Airport because of Vietnam Airlines.
We took our power banks out of our carry on baggage because it said at the check in counter “No batteries in overhead cabin” and we put them in our checked baggage.
We waited two hours at the gate only to be told when they scanned our boarding passes that there was a problem with our checked in luggage. The Vietnam airlines stewardess yelled at us to go back without an explanation. We asked why so many times because we were anxious at missing the flight and all she did was yell at us to go back to security and waved her hand in front of her face at us. At security they then told us that actually, we were not allowed to have a power bank inside the CHECKED IN LUGGAGE, going completely against the PRINTED instructions plastered on the checkout counter. At no point, did no one clarify this to us about power banks, and at no point did anyone call us over the intercom in the HOURS we were sat waiting at the gate.
The other Vietnam airlines stewardess was on her phone on Facebook as she ignored my pleas asking her again and again, “Will our baggage be on the same plane as us leaving now?” As it was still sitting in security as we went to the gate. She ignored both me and my partner and scrolled through her phone on Facebook instead and yelled at us to run to the gate, as if the whole thing was our fault.
When we arrived in Ho Chi Minh, we were told our baggage was delayed and would be another hour as it was arriving on the next flight.
This was by far, the worst customer service we have experienced by any airline in any country we have ever been too. The stewardesses clearly understood our questions but NO ONE communicated with us to clarify anything, and instead were being completely indolent, rude workers who could not care less about us.
I would never recommended Vietnam...
Read moreMy flight was at 2:55 AM, so I decided to arrive at the airport early and check in early. I arrived around 5 PM. I remembered that the airport was small when I arrived in Da Nang, but it was close to my hotel, so I could walk. I got off bus number 11, passed the military base, and entered the airport. It was incredibly quiet. There was no one else. The seats were comfortable, so I lay down. After resting for a while, it was past 8 PM and I tried to self-check in. But a message popped up saying it wasn't possible. It was the domestic self-check-in machine. This was the domestic lobby. I headed to the international lobby. The domestic lobby was empty, so I was able to relax. When I got to the international lobby, it was incredibly crowded. Even on a weekday, there were a ton of international travelers. There was no place to rest. Two-thirds of the real-time flight information boards were for Korea. It was incredibly crowded. There were no convenience stores, and the outdoor restaurants near the domestic lobby were the cheapest. There weren't many restaurants in the airport, just a few Highland Coffee shops. Water costs 20,000 VND for 500ml. It's best to eat a full meal in Da Nang before arriving at the airport. Check-in opens three hours before departure, so plan your schedule well in advance. I remember being 10 minutes late from Busan and spending the whole day at the airport before leaving. VietJet is completely unresponsive when their network is down. You can repay your ticket right away and return the next day to get on board. The benches at Da Nang's international terminal are nice. It's a bit hot, but it's comfortable to lie down on. You can also charge your phone. Da Nang Airport is less crowded than Ho Chi Minh City, and it's convenient to use. Ho Chi Minh City and Noi Bai...
