LOTTE Mart District 7 – A Modern Shopping Haven in South Saigon
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Located at 469 Nguyễn Hữu Thọ, Tân Hưng Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, LOTTE Mart District 7 is a bustling hypermarket that’s been a go-to shopping destination since its opening on December 18, 2008. As Vietnam’s first LOTTE Mart, this 34,000-square-meter, three-story complex offers a vibrant mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment, drawing locals, expats, and visitors alike.
The ground floor houses a sprawling supermarket with an impressive range of fresh produce, organic foods, meats, live and frozen seafood, and Vietnamese snacks like dried fruits and cashews. Korean products, from kimchi to instant noodles, are a highlight, reflecting LOTTE’s South Korean roots, though prices can be slightly higher than local chains like VinMart or Co.opmart. The second floor features a department store with clothing, electronics, household goods, and a bookstore, while the third floor boasts a lively food court serving Vietnamese staples like phở and bánh xèo, alongside Korean, Japanese, and Thai dishes. Fresh bakery items, sushi, and a salad bar add to the culinary variety, with affordable prices starting around 30,000 VND.
The modern glass-and-alloy facade and spacious outdoor parking (free with a receipt) make it accessible, especially compared to malls with basement lots. Entertainment options include a Lotte Cinema, a children’s play area, and a bowling alley, making it family-friendly. The atmosphere is clean and organized, with air conditioning offering relief from Saigon’s heat, though weekends can get crowded, and parking may be tight. Staff are generally friendly, but some reviews note occasional lapses in cashier service.
Conveniently located 5 km from District 1 (about 15–20 minutes by taxi, 50,000–100,000 VND), LOTTE Mart is ideal for grocery runs, souvenir shopping, or a casual meal. Bargain hunters can find deals on clothing and snacks, but be aware of past criticism regarding sale price accuracy. Despite a 2018 fine for unauthorized construction, the mall remains a reliable, modern shopping spot in District 7’s upscale Phu...
Read moreI have been buying foods from bigger supermarket chains like Big C, Coopmart, AEON ect because I believe the food is safe there. Lately, I had to cood dinner and decided to buy 1kg of Basa fish from Lotte Mart in D7. The fish was nicely packed in food tray and laid on top of an icy food stall. I recognized the fish didnt have this freshy look and it was too soft when I poked at it. Then I asked one of the staffs there why it was so soft and he said because the fish was fresh and so I bought without anymore doubt. When I came back home approx. 15 min later I put out the fish and cut it open through the belly, I saw it was all rotten inside and smelled so bad and the bones didnt even attach to the meat at all. So I ran back to Lotte and asked for an explanation and compensation. The man who told me the fish was fresh didnt help much, he said that Lotte had been selling similar products for years and nobody had ever complained about it and he ran off. So I asked to talk to a manager and I explained the situation to him and I even told him that the remaining fish on the food stall would have been in same condition. He agreed to compensate me with a new package but I told him I only agreed if he cut the fish open and if it was okay. I picked one package for him and he let one of the staffs cut the fish up and voilà OMG THE FISH WAS HALF FROZEN inside. No wonder the fish I bought was rotten when they were SELLING DEFROSTED FISH. Lotte, you should know that it is unsafe to sell defrosted food uncooked, OMG. If it happened in Europe this place would have been forced to close down by the FDA. STOP SELLING DEFROSTED FOOD BEFORE YOU...
Read moreGood place to visit for your groceries if you are in the neighborhood. Great selection including live seafood, bakery, ready to eat (with an eatery area) and Korean/Japanese assortment. One thing really annoyed us is that every time we went shopping with our own shopping bags - to STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS as our habit living in Europe - the staff tried to stop us and wanted to cover our shopping bags with PLASTIC BAGS 😱😱 Don’t know if we should laugh or cry 😂😂 I understand that they want to avoid shop lifting but there should be a better solution. Also everytime at the checkout looking at the amount of plastic bags were distributed freely around and everyone carries bags and bags of plastic, it made me sick to my stomach. This is not the only issue at Lotte but mostly everywhere. While plastic usage should be educated as common knowledge, retailers should also take the lead to educate and reduce plastic usage by (1) raising the bar with supplier for plastic packaging and (2) reduce their own usage and distribution of plastic - starting using paper bags and selling/promoting using non-plastic bags for shopping. P/S: image of my husband trying to explain to staff why we brought our own shopping bags and that it does not make sense to cover them with plastic bags... Hope one day it will become common knowledge and that there will be no need to explain...
