I visited the store not needing to buy anything in particular. It just so happens that supermarket browsing is one of my therapeutic activities. But the staff either took my lingering as suspicious behavior or simply took my ethnicity as unwelcome (because none of the Western looking customers got the same treatment I did), they kept glancing my way and exchanged looks with each other, the guard shouted out to the rest of the staff that "She is not a regular?!", and one of them even took to following me around the store.

Now the ironic thing is just before coming to the store, I had lunch with a friend where I gave rave reviews about Nam An to her, urging me to go buy groceries there. Then I went and got treated like a criminal. I was gonna buy some stuff but as soon as I realized I was the subject of ridicule, I left. I don't deserve this disgusting attitude, and you don't deserve my money.

Mình đến cửa hàng chỉ để dạo qua và xem đồ, không tìm món gì cụ thể. Mình có sở thích thỉnh thoảng đi lòng vòng trong siêu thị như vậy cho thư giãn. Nhưng nhân viên cửa hàng hoặc cho rằng việc mình nán lại lâu là đáng nghi, hoặc đơn giản là phân biệt đối xử và kỳ thị việc mình là người Việt (bởi vì không có khách hàng nước ngoài nào bị đối xử như mình), họ túm tụm liếc xéo mình và xì xào với nhau, anh bảo vệ đứng cửa hét lên "Chị đó có phải khách quen đâu?!", một nhân viên nữ thậm chí đi theo mình khắp cửa hàng, mình đi đâu là đi theo đó, dò xét.

Điều mỉa mai ở đây là ngay trước khi đến cửa hàng, mình ăn trưa với bạn và vừa mới khen ngợi Nam An rất nhiều, kêu bạn mình qua đây mà đi chợ. Rồi mình đến đó và nhận lại phong cách đối xử như với một đứa tội phạm. Đúng ra mình tìm thấy một số thứ muốn mua, nhưng ngay khi nhận ra mình đang bị biến thành trò cười giữa cửa hàng này, mình bỏ về luôn. Mình không đáng nhận thái độ này, và Nam An không xứng đáng nhận được...

I'd been using this place for over 3 years until today. I live outside HCMC but always came here when in the city, using my 5% discount. Today i brought another friend here and discovered they no longer give a discount unless you spend a ridiculous amount per month. (Impossible since I don't live there) They didn't even tell me that their stupid policy had changed. This is the epitome of greediness and lack of respect for long term custom, and recommendations. This store is directly across from the apartment building where I live. It would be ok that the prices are high if the quality were good. The produce is exorbitant but not always high quality. And the owners mix 360,000/kg Australian broccoli with the much much cheaper Vietnamese broccoli together in the same packaging. Even the store cleric made a mistake and charged for the Australian.
