(UPDATE to the post below: the Store Manager has been very supportive and has explained to her staff how to appropriately handle pricing discrepancies in the future (to the customer’s benefit)).
Beware of incorrect advertising and wrong pricing!!
They had a weekend special for chicken breast. They gave a description in Vietnamese with a couple of 2-letter abbreviations - but a much simpler description in English - with a package photo. I bought the chicken based on the photo but was charged a different price than advertised. They said the photo was wrong and tried to sell me the cheaper quality chicken. When I insisted that I had bought based on the photo in the advertisement, hence should pay the advertised price, they said I was being difficult. Although in the end they did refund the difference, it was a tiring process. (See accompanying photos.)
I shop there every other week or so, and this sort of issue occurs about every 3 to 4 months: The scanned price at the checkout counter does not match with the advertised price or the sticker price on the shelf.
They offer to give you a full refund, or try to get you to buy the product at the higher price or take the inferior product at the lower price.
I’ve learned now to take photos of the shelf price or in-store advertised price as clear proof, and to always check my receipt carefully before I leave the premises.
The lady at security bag check-in, and one of the ladies at the weighing area for fruits and vegetables are both really friendly and helpful.
They can have very good weekend promotions which are worth your while going there (as long as you make sure you get the advertised price on the advertised product 🙃🙃). Best to get there early - 7:30 or 8am to...

I went to the MegaMart An Phu tonight, 20 minutes before closing. I grabbed a loaf of bread, 2 bottles of wine, some cheese, and a 5 piece package of fried chicken wings from the deli. Seeing the chicken wings, priced at 21,000, I thought it was a fair deal, being it was the end of the night.
Upon checking out, the cashier decided to charge me, 5 times the listed price, because there was 5 in the package. I pointed to the computer screen, showing her the error, but she insisted, and called in a translator. He said, that because there was 5 pieces in the package, that it was times 5, Equaling 105,000 vnd for five small chicken wings. Further complaining, that this was false advertising and illegal in Vietnam, he said he was sorry for their mislabeling. I informed him that the entire selection, 7 additional packages in the deli were all advertised the same. In fact there was another couple that grabbed a 5 piece package of chicken wings while I was there. As I went to take a picture of the product, he quickly grabbed it and hid it behind him, saying it was their store policy not to allow customers to take pictures.
In disgust of the blatant Cheating I left ALL the items at the checkout counter. They Lost me as a customer tonight. I will NOT be giving them my business. I hope you all check your receipts carefully. I wonder how many other customers they’ve scammed. I hope this helps bring awareness to the scamming business practices at Mega...
Read moreWas here a few weeks ago with my family. Loaded up our cart with a lot of stuff for home and hotel use. We were recording our experience in this one a kind massive warehouse store in Vietnam. We were prepared to make a big purchase when we walked past the bakery section and there was a giant cloud of smoke bombarding the area. I was just so happening to be recording when one of the employees asked worryingly why I was recording and I politely replied saying it's for memories and isn't going to be posted anywhere. We walk a short distance afterwards and another employee stomps towards us and made us extremely uncomfortable confronting us saying that recording is banned in an incredibly rude, demeaning and belittling manner. I get he was worried about us recording and the apparent fire that just broke out, but there was no need for him to take his anger out on us. Him telling us to stop recording wasn't the issue but it was just his attitude and his way of addressing the situation that left a horrible taste in our mouth. We return our entire shopping cart and left the store and on the way out, told a few of the employee at the exit who were incredibly kind and understanding and comforting. I personally wouldn't be coming here and would be lying if I were to recommend to anyone but if you do come, try avoiding the bakery area because you might be caught on fire, or even worse, encounter that...
