The Jardim Zoológico in Lisbon is, without a doubt, a must-visit, even for seasoned zoo enthusiasts! As someone who makes it a point to check out the local zoo in every new place I travel, I can confidently say that Lisbon’s offering truly stands out among the best in Europe.
If you’re expecting just another municipal menagerie, think again. The first thing that hits you is the impeccable cleanliness. It’s not just "clean for a zoo"; it’s spotless. You can tell the staff takes immense pride in the grounds and, more importantly, the animals' habitats. This meticulous care makes the entire experience feel respectful and comfortable.
The zoo is quite expansive, sprawling over a beautifully varied landscape that includes steep hills and lush flat areas—definitely wear good walking shoes! Arriving early is key. Not only do you beat the largest crowds, but the animals are often most active in the morning. Plan for at least 2 to 3 hours to properly explore and not feel rushed. The sheer variety of species, from the impressive gorilla and elephant houses to the countless others, offers something for everyone.
What makes this a perfect family-friendly outing is the range of extra activities. Beyond the impressive animal exhibits, there are some delightful rides, like a beautiful merry-go-round, and a petting zoo where you get to feed and play with some of the domestic animals. These attractions, along with the main exhibits, truly make it enjoyable for all ages. Don't forget to look out for the chairlift for stunning views over the grounds!
But what really elevates the Lisbon Zoo from "great" to unforgettable is the unique and unexpected pet cemetery tucked away near the far end of the grounds. It’s a surprisingly moving and quiet corner, a poignant reminder of the enduring human bond with animals, both wild and domestic. It adds a layer of depth and thoughtfulness to the visit that you simply won't find anywhere else.
The Lisbon Zoo is a refreshing, well-designed, and remarkably clean institution. Go early, enjoy the stunning views, and be prepared for a wonderful surprise at the finish line. It's truly one of Europe's top zoos.

Raesera, they say that it's a wonderful place to live. I can't stand it. The sight of grey. mundane stone floods my vision wherever I go and all the people that I ever see are the same. No excitement. No opportunities to make new friends. Nothing. I want to make something of my
life. I want to be special, sorr eone that everyone talks about. To put it shortly, a hero. However, when people find out about this goal, they just look at me and laugh as if they want to crush my
dreams there and then. The only people who don't do this are my family and my best friend
Aello.
Aello and I have beer inseparable ever since we met on the second layer ten years ago. I
remember that day as if it were yesterday. I was alone, buying fruit and veg form a stall in the
market for my family like I do every week. But on that one, life changing day, I decided to go a different route. Due to this I walked by a lonesome girl who looked no older than myself with
hair as white as snow, cowering dejectedly ir the dark corner of an alleyway nearly being
enveloped in a shroud of darkness. Walking past, my face showed nothing but sorrow for the
girl. Unfortunately for the both of us I knew that I had no time to waste. I absolutely had to get
this fruit and veg home for my mother on time or I would never be trusted again. So, I hurried
along to the stall. On ry way back however, the sorrow that I had developed for the girl had grow to an enormous size and I knew that I couldn't just do nothing about it, so I visited her
again. This time I approached the girl asking her questions like "What's your name?" and
"Where are you from?" just like any other inquisitive child my age would have done. But, to my disray, she said nothing. I knew I couldn't give up on her, so I gave her one of the fruits fron my bag. The sight of the fruit made Aello's face light up. I had never seen anyone move so quick for a piece of fruit, I couldn't help but to chuckle. Aello looked up at me as if to say "Why?" but

The Jardim Zoológico in Lisbon is a fantastic place to spend the day with family or friends! The zoo is very well maintained, with a wide variety of animals from all over the world. One of the highlights is definitely the cable car ride – it gives you a completely different perspective of the park and lets you see the animals from above, which is both exciting and relaxing.
The park is big, but easy to walk around, and there are plenty of shaded areas to rest. For food options, it’s nice to have a McDonald’s right inside the zoo, which makes it convenient for a quick and familiar meal, especially if you’re visiting with kids.
Overall, it’s not just a zoo but a full day experience combining nature, fun, and comfort. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lisbon!

Unforgettable memories from this magical place! The Dolphin Bay show is an absolute must—graceful, intelligent dolphins performing with such charm and energy, it’s truly mesmerizing.
One of the coolest features? The cable car that glides above the entire zoo. You get a stunning aerial view of the animals and lush landscapes below—such a clever and relaxing way to explore.
From majestic lions to playful monkeys, the animals are incredible. The zoo is beautifully designed, with immersive habitats and thoughtful layouts.
If you’re traveling with kids, don’t miss it. It’s fun, educational, and full of wonder. Jardim Zoológico is more than just a zoo—it’s a journey through nature that leaves you smiling long after you leave.

We had a great day at this zoo! The park has a good variety of animals and plenty of space to walk around, but the two standouts for us were the cable car and the dolphin show. The cable car gives you such a cool view of the whole zoo from above—it’s peaceful, fun, and a totally unique way to see everything.
The dolphin show was amazing! Super entertaining and really well done. The kids absolutely loved it—it was definitely one of the highlights of the day.
The zoo itself is well-maintained, though some parts could use a little updating. Overall though, it’s clean, the animals seem well cared for, and there’s a good mix of things to see and do. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lisbon, especially with kids.

I came to visit during a day they are usually open. Checked online and it said it's opening hours. Unfortunately they don't share the fact that they were actually closed for a week prior to showing up and would be closed that day online. It did in fact ruin the day driving 2.5 hours to visit to see the tour and museum. I would have been very upset if my vacation was shorter than it actually is. I'm hoping the next time I go it will be a great experience. I'm even hoping they start using their website to update simple information about the tour and museum. Having to call in advance is not a simple task for tourists who don't have phones here only data. I'm also hoping someone will see this that works there and offer a discount or something special to make up for that bad experience this far. I will update after actually visiting and here's hoping they will be open that day

The Sporting Club's home arena is named after Jose de Alvalade, the founder of the sports club.
The stadium was opened in 2003 with the match "Sporting" — "Manchester United". It is the center of the Alvalade XXI sports complex, which includes a cinema, a fitness center, a sports clinic, a museum of the Sporting society, office buildings and an underground parking lot. It was built on the site of the old stadium built in 1956 and completely destroyed in 2000. Matches of the Portuguese national team are often held.

Bonne visite !

The guided tour makes the experience even for someone that doesn't pay attention to European footbal. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They split the large group into Portugese and English speaking groups. Overall, the facilities were quite clean well maintained, however the field was still getting work done, so we were precluded from entering the field area. Overall, well worth the money and a good use of the time, ie/ just under 1 hour.

I’ve done stadium tours around the world, and while this stadium is impressive, the experience fell short. During my visit, parts were under construction and the museum was closed — yet the tour still cost €20. Without the museum, it felt rushed and overpriced; we were done in 30 minutes. Worth €10 at most in that condition. Still, the stadium itself is very cool — would love to catch a game there someday
