🇨🇦Nanaimo Weekend Getaway | Food & Activities Recommendations ☀️
A summer weekend getaway~ Nanaimo is perfect for a trip with friends. You can go tide pooling to dig oysters, crab fishing, and there’s a hidden gem beach where you can spend the whole day 🧡 ▫️▫️▫️Restaurant Recommendations▫️▫️▫️ 🍣 Nori Japanese Restaurant A super popular Japanese restaurant. The food is delicious, ingredients are fresh, and the portions are huge—I was shocked by the size of the sushi rolls.👉👈 🍱 Horang Korean inspired restaurant & bar It’s a sister restaurant to Nori. Creative Korean food—we ordered stone pot bibimbap, beef bibimbap, etc., all delicious. 🍟 The fries are special, sprinkled with sweet powder that tastes like corn chips.😍😍 ☕️ The Vault Cafe A popular spot for photos. The exterior wall is a beautiful pink 💗, and the interior has a retro American style. The staff dress in bohemian fashion—it’s such a vibe. Coming here for a coffee in the morning and taking photos is perfect~ 🌮 Jalapeños Mexican Food A tiny Mexican spot. We randomly searched for it before getting on the boat, saw it had a 4.7 rating on Google, and went for it. Authentic and tasty tacos. If you’re not into checking out (internet-famous) spots, this is for you—it’s that kind of “shabby little place with amazing food.” ▫️▫️▫️Itinerary▫️▫️▫️ Day 1: Tide Pooling Day 🦪 Nanoose Bay (digging oysters) By August, all the oysters were already dug up. You can go to Union Bay to the north, but it’s a bit far, so we stayed here to dig clams—we found a bunch just by digging. 🦀️ Maffeo Sutton Park It’s a pier near the city center. If you’re mainly here to catch crabs, this might not be the best spot since it’s crowded. But if you’re just casually fishing and enjoying the moment, it’s nice here—you can see beautiful sea views, seaplanes, and downtown scenery. Day 2: Beach Day ⚓️ Nanaimo Harbour First, we wandered around the city center and strolled along the waterfront. I think Nanaimo itself is just okay, but this area has that coastal town feel. You can take photos and grab some gelato 🍦 🏖️ Parksville Truly a hidden gem beach! The best beach I’ve seen in BC. 🌳 It’s not a stony beach but has fine sand, feeling like a proper bathing beach. You can go into the water for a swim 🏊🏻♀️—the water is warm. Next year, I definitely want to stay at a hotel by this beach and just relax for a few days 🫶🏻 #Nanaimo#NanaimoGuide#WheretoGoonWeekends#RestaurantRecommendations
