It was commissioned by wealthy merchant Tommaso Marino and designed by architect Galeazzo Alessi, showcasing the typical elegance of Renaissance architecture. The exterior is stately and refined, while the interiors are richly decorated, reflecting the art and craftsmanship of the time. The palace’s construction began in 1558 and took 20 years to complete. Initially intended as Marino’s private residence, it was eventually transferred to the Milanese government due to financial issues within the family. Today, Palazzo Marino serves as the City Hall, housing the offices of the Mayor and city government, and is also the site of the City Council’s meetings. Inside, visitors can admire many exquisite rooms and halls adorned with frescoes, sculptures, and luxurious furniture. The most famous of these is the Sala dell'Alessi, which is the main meeting room for the City Council. Palazzo Marino is not only Milan’s administrative center but also a symbol of the city’s rich history and culture. No reservations are required, and admission is free! If you're in Milan, don't miss this opportunity to explore this historic gem. 🏰👀 #Milan #ItalyLife #FreeEvents #DailyArtShare #Concerts #SymphonyOrchestra #MilanCityHall #NanaExplores #CulturalSites #WeekendPlans
