NOLA 🍽️ | Turns Out There Are Also Bad-Tasting Foods in New Orleans
Following My Last Post About Delicious Eats – This One’s About Decent Coffee, Ice Cream, and a Big Letdown🍧🍧 🦞 Drago’s Seafood Restaurant (Big Letdown ❌) - Lobster Marco: It’s been highly recommended online, but it was a total miss. 🍺 The creamy mushroom pasta on top was okay, but the lobster was terrible – not bouncy at all, dry, and even the meat in the claws tasted bitter 😠. And at $46 a serving, it’s just all looks and no substance 😡😡. - Shrimp & Grits: The sauce seasoning was actually good, with the classic tomato and red bell pepper flavor. 🍢🍢 But the grits were bad – they were even lumpy, like cold corn porridge you’d make at home… I much prefer the cheesy grits at Mulate’s. (My blurry photo says it all about my bad mood 😭) 🦐 Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant (Recommended in My Last Post, But Not This Time 👎) - Fried Oysters (no photo): I got takeout from their Garden District location. Since it was takeout, I won’t judge the frying quality – but the oysters had sand! 🍎And it wasn’t just one; three or four of them did. My friend also said other dishes at their French Quarter location aren’t good either 🤦♀️. Though their BBQ shrimp is actually decent. 🍨 Sucré - White Peach Sorbet: A unique flavor at the shop – sweet and tangy.🍅 Worth a try if you’re passing by. (Don’t recommend the apple sorbet; it just tastes like frozen applesauce.) ☕️ French Truck Coffee☕ - New Orleans Iced Coffee: I just learned that New Orleans-style coffee☕☕ is a mix of coffee and chicory. The chicory gives it a strong dark chocolate flavor, and when you add syrup, it has a caramel hint. It’s sweeter than the NOLA-style iced coffee from Blue Bottle.☕☕ 🍨 Kilwins - Raspberry Sorbet: Decently good, but nothing special🎋 The waffle bowls look nice, but they’re pre-made and sit out for ages – hard, with no egg aroma… Also, I found it a bit too sweet. (The lemon sorbet is just lemon slush; average at best.) - Georgia Peach (ice cream): Creamy and packed with peach flavor – pretty good!👍👍 🍸 Cure🍵 It’s among North America’s Top 50 bars, but it’s not quite on par with the World’s Top 50. I didn’t order any drinks that stood out (maybe that’s on me, haha), but the food was all tasty 😂 – the meatballs, mushrooms, and popcorn were great.💕💕 💎 Porter Lyons Last, a shopping recommendation: a fine jewelry store in the French Quarter, local to New Orleans. They have lots of beautiful, unique necklaces and earrings. 🍳 My partner bought something from their skeleton hands collection – it’s super cool. Definitely worth a visit! #NewOrleans #NewOrleansFood #Albany
