Our Sunday after church with family, wife & I, eldest daughter, youngest daughter and two youngest grandkids. Visited on a recommendation from a friend and online ratings.Small but comfy, we found a table for 6 right by the window.
I was surprised that a server came to wait on us. Mayte took our drink orders while we glanced at the menu. We decided on the Family Meal with Ropa Vieja and Pollo A La Plancha, with Yellow Rice and Black Beans. Grandkids also wanted Fries. We also ordered one each of Empanadas, Beef, Chicken and Spinach and an order of Mari-k-tas Plantain Chips.
Shortly Mayte brought our Plantain Chips, followed by the assorted Empanadas. The Chips were great, fresh, hot and crispy. I divided the Empanadas into sections so all could try some. They were good, but not hot and had apparently been in the warmer I saw earlier. Disappointing since I was the one that really looked forward to them.
Next came Cuban bread, crispy and terrific. Then our meals came. A huge bowl of yellow rice, a nice bowl of black beans, fries, and bowls of Ropa Vieja and Chicken A La Plancha. The meats were delicious, full of flavor. The rice was very good and the beans were the best I’ve ever had. And the fries were terrific, hot and crispy and super tasty. Bread was so tasty we had to order more.
And of course Momma had to get desserts to share. The Rice Pudding was great, took me back to my childhood. The Flan was ok, not a big fan of Flan. Sadly they no longer have Tres Leche cake.
The food was excellent and the service was great. Definitely the best Cuban food I’ve eaten in years. The only disappointment was the Empanadas. They can be pre-made and cooked fresh very quickly. But not enough to deter a 5 star rating. Another...
Read moreOMG, it had been far too long since I indulged in Cuban cuisine. And let me tell you, Cuban Foodies did not disappoint! From the moment we stepped inside, we felt like cherished guests. The warm welcome and prompt seating set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu was a delightful journey through Cuban flavors. To kick things off, we sipped on a mango shake, a red sangria, and classic Cokes. The anticipation grew as we ordered an array of appetizers: crispy plantains, flavorful Mari-k-tas, and savory beef empanadas. Each bite transported us to what I would believe would be the heart of Havana with street side dinning. But the real magic happened during the main course. Brace yourselves! We savored the fried pork chunks, tender masa’s de puerco, and the iconic El Cubano sandwich. The flavors danced on our taste buds, and we couldn’t help but share delighted glances across the table. Now, let’s talk service. It was nothing short of exceptional. The staff’s attention to detail, their warm smiles, and their genuine care made us feel like family. The hospitality was as comforting as the food itself. They left nothing to chance, and asked if we needed extra plates, spoons and napkins as we moved through the courses. And dessert? Oh, it was the sweet finale we craved. The Caramel Flan drizzled with guava sauce was pure bliss. Creamy, rich, and utterly satisfying—it sealed the deal. In summary, Cuban Foodies is a definite pit stop for anyone seeking a quick, flavor-packed meal. As for those other reviews? Well, don’t take my word for it—check out my pics! Thank you, Cuban Foodies, for rekindling our love affair with Cuban cuisine. We’ll be...
Read moreOn a chilly November Sunday morning we ventured forth to Horse power for kids petting zoo. Which as a part of their offerings has easily the snootiest Lama this side of the Bible belt. My s/o decided to plan ahead and find us a place to eat nearby before we took part in all the animal shenanigans, Cuban Foodies has entered the chat. It was a no frills no surprises strip mall mom and pop restaurant wedged between a hardware store and mixed martial arts studio. The waiter did have a bit of a blase "let's get through the day"attitude but this humble observer could understand. Hey its Sunday morning and she was at work when she could have been at Horse power for kids home to joe the camel and two extremely voyeuristic tortoises by the names of scooter and I kid you not "pokey". She took our drink orders I ordered a Cafe con Leche and my s/o ordered a cappuccino our waiter returned with two cafe con Leches. No biggie all disappointment was soon washed away under a wave of lazy sloths and ant eaters. We then ordered our food I had a MOJO pork sandwich and two over medium fried eggs on the side and my s/o had a Cuban chorizo omelet. In short order both meals were put in front of us. The sandwich was delicious and well seasoned as were my eggs. My s/o a renowned cheese addicted baby goat lover was disappointed by her cheese-less omelet. In closing the restaurant is okay the location is perfect if you're looking for a quick bite to eat before a long day of work or after a few hours of grappling on the mat or of course if you are planning on enjoying seeing some cute animals.
