Arrived at 5:45pm - earlier than our booking but was told it wasnāt an issue. Ordered 2 foods by 5:55pm. Then order more food at 6:05pm. We then had to wait and watch while everyone else around us got food. We then eventually got some garlic bread. Which wasnāt ordered with our first order but our second. We then had to wait another 30 minute for our next lot of foods, which we only got after our waiter had to ask what we were waiting for. We then asked other waiters to check on our food as our first two items still hadnāt come out. We were then told that they were sold out of one of the items we first ordered (now over an hour ago). It was then 7:30pm and longer than 30 minutes of just waiting for our final dish and decided we had had enough and wanted this to be takeaway instead. When I went to pay and let them know that we wanted it takeaway due to waiting for almost 2 hours, the younger person was lovely and told us about their situation (short staffed in the kitchen). The male behind the counter had gotten what looked to be the female manager. I was then told I was wrong and that my order was put in later than what I said and was made to feel like I was lying. They even wanted me to go through our entire night and when we received our food etc and kept rolling their eyes at me saying it was wrong. Terrible customer service for these two individuals. I feel sorry for the younger staff who were only doing their job. Such a horrible ending to our honeymoon being made to feel like I was being horrible when I was only being polite and providing a reason for why we wanted to have our last food as takeaway, I didnāt need the third degree or have to provide an in depth explanation. I just wanted to leave so I could be upset without them seeing how they made me feel. We will never be back and will share our experience with others who wish to go there. Left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. Especially when our bill was over $130. Itās a shame as the food was very good, just very expensive and horrible customer service from their older staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited The Dock for the first time to enjoy a big family dinner. I'm happy to say it was a 5-star clean sweep, with food, service, ambience and pricing all being exemplary.
As a tapas bar, The Dock offers a large range of smaller tasting plates. In truth, something I've always avoided as I like to select my meal of choice, and then get plenty of it. Hindsight is 20/20, however, and I now wish I'd tried the tapas experience many years earlier.
The service was fantastic from the minute we sat down, with several staff members ensuring we were catered for at all times. Drinks were regularly topped up/replaced, and food ordering was also promptly addressed. A big thumbs up to our main waitress, Georgia, who was wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to stop for a chat after all was said and done. (Best of luck with your new Brisbane endeavours, you'll be great! š).
Our many meal selections, ranging from Oysters Kilpatrick and Garlic Chilli Prawns to Popcorn Halloumi, Duck Cigars, Lamb Gyros, Grilled Rump and more, were generally high quality, decent sizes for the price, fresh, and tasty. Our large table unanimously praised the meals and nothing was left unfinished.
Drinks were also great, with some funky looking cocktails coming our way, as well as standard spirits and softdrink. All reasonably priced and very quickly delivered. The same can be said for the desserts, of which a variety were ordered and devoured. Fudge Brownie, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Churros being a few examples.
The venue itself is also a big positive, with it being difficult to complain when sitting outside, overlooking the marina, watching the sun set. It's a relaxing and scenic setting that complements all other aspects of your dining experience.
In summary, The Dock was a big hit and we're really glad we took the plunge. I can also say it's a given that we'll be back again to further explore the menu. Thanks to all and keep up the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGutted. Was really exited to try this place after reading the reviews. Was our last night touring Queensland before heading home and we were looking forward to a bit of luxury. We ordered the Italian dock plate, the pork and fennel meatballs, a signature cocktail and a Prosecco. The Italian plate looked quite impressive at first glance with a lot of food for the price but unfortunately it lacked anything in the way of flavour. The only thing on the plate that wasnāt a budget store bought item was the roasted cherry tomatoes and the were unseasoned in any way and very bland. Also, what are corn chips doing on an Italian board? Very confusing. We left over half the food. The pork and fennel meatballs were lacking on the fennel and quite dry, they did come with a lemon mustard sauce on the side but that was overpowering and made them worse. Again, we left half of them uneaten. The cocktail was a take on a pina colada and sounded great because t was ridiculously sweet and even though Iām a real sweet tooth, I found it unpleasant. The Prosecco was good though. When I paid for the meal, I was not asked how we liked it. I would have happily shared this feedback in person if asked. Simple mistakes here that would take much to fix. Better quality ingredients with some seasoning would improve everything dramatically not to mention tasting food and drinks before...
