Food mainly reheated from the kitchen. My meatballs arrived cold. I asked for a hot dish and they came back without an apology and had obviously reheated from microwave. The meatballs in hotel.we are staying tasted better and presented with care. The lamb in yoghurt was hard. It needed at least another hour of stewing so that you did not have to saw the meat off the bone and the salad was mainlyb made up if tomatoes served with pretty unprocessed olives. Food overall was pretty bland and very ordinary and presented without care. The servers did not care at all whether diners were happy or not. No one checked or followed up if we needed anything else ..coffee more drinks etc. House wine was low quality and had no body nor complexity - was like having water with a bit of lemon
No one came over to check if food was OK. We had to ask for our table to be cleared when we had long finished. They also put a coffee on the bill that we did not consume. No apologies for that either. Basically the servers who had no idea how to serve in a restaurant serving food that is substandard if not plain and boring and priced higher that it's nearby competitors.
Basically you can do better going to the restaurant across the road with the balcony hangging iver river where servers cared about the food they served and how the customers felt and served family made wine which could rival a good chablis.
Also three of us who dined there suffered from a bad belly the following day - whether it was due to the food they served unsure. However serving lukewarm food and not fully cooked by untrained servers could create a suitable environment food to be contaminated and for stomach bugs to thrive. Ate in this restaurant on our 3rd day in Berat and had not suffered from.a bad digestive system from eating in other restaurant ...
Read moreEni's is more than just a restaurant. It feels like being welcomed by family with the addition of a beautiful view of the Gorica Bridge. Even her very sweet dog welcomed us at the door. Momma, the chef and owner, made us feel right at home next to the warm fire. The menu is small, which is how you know that only her very best made the cut. She recommended the meatballs with onions, and we also ordered the stuffed peppers. She said she would do half the plate with stuffed peppers and the other side her eggplant dish. She also brought us bread with a tatziki dip and olives, plus her spinach byrek. She was just so proud of her food and heritage, and wanted us to share in all of her home cooking, even though it is low season, and we may have been the only tourists in all of Berat. Every bite was full of flavor. You could taste the love she put in the food. My husband said those may have been the best meatballs he has ever had in all of our travels, and he is pretty shrewd with handing out the compliments.
Her lovely dog watched over us from the center of the room, never making a sound or coming close to beg for food. Just watched us happily from afar, like he knew, what we both knew now, the joys of Momma's cooking. If you are in Berat, I highly recommend you come and...
Read moreAmazing hospitality and traditional Albanian food!
I was honestly blown away by the friendly service of the owners of this restaurant. The owner is very enthusiastic about their food and gave me additional food free of charge! Felt like I was at my grandma's house and they wouldn't let me leave without a full stomach and absolutely satisfied.
I recommend trying out the meatball. It's very juicy and flavorful, the caramelised onion really added a lot of flavour to it. The owner even gave a Tzatziki free of charge to pair with it which I was very grateful and surprised. With the additional Tzatziki the taste of the meatball was elevated, it was phenomenal. Highly recommend this dish.
I got the kimia with eggs the second time I visited and it was very delicious too. It's a very unique dish, best paired with bread. It's extremely satisfying eating the piece of bread that was soaked with the flavourful sauce of the dish.
After I was done eating the owner always serve me an extra basket of home-picked oranges for me to try, free of charge. Their hospitality really left a lasting impression during my visit to Albania, highly...
