Probably the worst fine dining meal I’ve had, globally. I followed the Michelin’s guide and was looking forward to this meal but it was mostly disappointing. The service was decent but the food was mediocre at best. I chose the half dinner tasting menu at €65/pax. The bread was offered at €1 per slide, with no butter or oil (on the table) until asked. The smoked trout was brought first and was the highlight of the meal - beautiful flavor but the skin was still on which was rather odd for smoked fish. The second course - pork neck was indeed good, but it was simply served on a potato chip and that’s it. The third course - rice with pork and blood sausage was al dente but very salty (and I consider myself eating quite salty already). The main courses consisted of the catfish which was super bland and the beef which was both overcooked and very gamey that I left most untouched. Finally I asked to substitute the cheese cake in the menu with a baba rum cake (which was delicious) but I was not informed that there would be a supplement of €9 (half the baba cake’s price) for the substitution. All in all not a pleasant experience and I couldn’t imagine they’d be given a Michelin’s star...
Read moreThis place will have it's Michelin star, I would bet on it.
We spent the night on the edges of the menu, rarely visiting the standard fare and we did not regret it. The 5 year aged beef rib was truly a unique experience! On the not traditional side, the pumpkin crisp rounds and the risotto with scallop stood out, as well as all of the "extras" the owner graciously offers to round out your experience.
The food was amazing and rather spend time talking about that since it's better experienced than talked about, I'll share about our experience.
The owner is amazingly gracious and seems to effortly manage all tables, staff and still have time for intimate connections with her patrons. A rare gift.
The sommelier is very talented, not just by his resume, but his wine selections. He doesn't know a ton of English, but tries very diligently, though it does not seem to matter much. Leave yourself in his hands and your will not be disappointed, as every glass turned out to be a great match to out varied selection of cuisine.
Very much recommended!
Also, Google maps is very wrong on the location. It's further down than it suggests.. just keep walking along and...
Read moreAmazing everything. The food was full of life and rich in flavor, and its presentation was very elegant - both delicate and elaborate. The wines were heavenly matched with each dish - from the initial bottled poetry of a white Montsant to the bold red going with the tastiest of meats. Every staff member was incredibly nice, and dedicated to ensuring the best dining experience. Pablo took the time to suggest and describe in detail all the dishes for the night - and everything was off menu, which added a special spark. We were lucky to have Thierry go over the wines in detail for us, which was a treat. And at the end of the evening, they were nice enough to engage in a very friendly conversation before closing the restaurant. Stop reading this, and just go there. You'll want to return as...
