La Cocina had been on my list to visit during the 4 days my wife and I were in Buenos Aires, and we finally got a chance on day 4. Great place to grab a quick lunch and some tasty empanadas, a local beer and a glass of inexpensive wine. La Cocina is a small place (maybe seats 15 people max), and very charming. I tried 4 different empanadas (Carne suave, carne picante, pollo, ricotta y jamon) but the Carne ones were my favorite. Loved the flavors. The Owners are really nice and attentive. A must visit, I'd recommend visiting this location (but there are several in the city).

Don't listen to 1 star reviews as most of them love judging books by their cover and expect such businesses to spend hard earned money on looks and comfort instead of the food! I came at 730pm when they just opened up and everything served was served straight out of the oven! Caution it's going to hot so break it in half and let the steam escape! The reviews will mention Pikachu over and over and they are all correct it's amazing! MUST TRY! I had the beef and chicken as well which were great but the Pikachu and Flan were simply fantastic!

Great empanadas. I specifically liked that carne suave and the ricotta y jamon empanadas. The best is the atmosphere there, the guy who deals with customers has a bigger than life personality, confident, funny, slightly flirtatious, curious, attentive - everyone literally leaves with a big smile. The empanadas are not only tasty but pretty well priced too - 1400 pesos each (April 2024). In the evening people were coming and coming, the line was long and never ending. No wonder why the place is popular. Super recommended!

This is one of those places that you don't want to tell other people about because you don't want anyone else to go there and ruin its greatness. With that said, you must go here.

The empanadas are to die for. A buddy and I split a carne, spicy meat, jamon y queso, and an onions and cheese. The deliciousness of the food is only a piece of the experience. It has the look and feel of a place you’d find on an Anthony Bourdain show or DDD. Old school laid back good tunes vibe. The guy working the counter (who may be the owner) is as legendary as it comes....
