Xul Solar Museum — Attraction in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

The Pan Klub Foundation Xul Solar Museum is an institution dedicated to preserving and spreading the work of Argentinean artist Alejandro Xul Solar and aims to develop and promote culture in its various aspects. It was created in 1986 by Micaela (Lita) Cadenas, his wife, and Natalio J. Povarché, marchand of Xul Solar, who decided to found it respecting the original plans of the creator, as he had conceived the Pan Klub at the end of the years 1930.

It was inaugurated on April 13, 1993 with the works selected by the same Xul Solar and which are also those that make up the permanent exhibition of the Museum, together with objects, sculptures and documents that belong to his personal archive. This same space functions as a cultural center where cultural events and temporary exhibitions dedicated to the artist take place. Likewise, the Foundation conserves the personal home of the artist who keeps his library of approximately 3,500 volumes.

The project of the remodeling of the house of Xul, transformed into the current museum received several awards. Among them in 1998 he qualified qualified semifinalist in the Mies van der Rohe Award for Latin America, whose purpose is to reward contemporary Latin American architecture and in 2003, he won the 2003 Decade Award, awarded by the University of Palermo and that counted as a jury to Arch. El museo aunque es pequeño, tiene muchos detalles a analizar en cuanto a las obras del artista, lo cual hace que el recorrido al menos para mi sea extenso debido a lo interesante que son sus creaciones y todo lo que pasaba por la mente del artista. El espacio está acompañado de música ambiental, y es la casa donde vivió el artista, incluso hay una maqueta de su casa en madera con muchos detalles de sus habitaciones y escaleras, que te hace pensar en que lugar de la casa estás, es increible!! Podes sentarte a mirar algunos libros o recortes de diarios que hablan de la vida del artista. No sólo hay cuadros sino algunos objetos intervenidos por el como uno de los pianos de su casa, o títeres o algunos juegos de mesa y cartas que el mismo se había inventado. Las obras son interesantes. El espacio está limpio, las personas que trabajan en el lugar son amables y te orientan con alguna duda o dato sobre el artista y su vida. Nos recomendó visitar otros museos cercanos ya que estábamos entusiasmados en seguir recorriendo, muy amable de su parte. Tienen una pequeña exposición de libros y objetos a la venta: vasos, platos, fotos de sus cuadros, pañuelos, cartas de tarot que inventó entre otras. Muy lindo museo, recomiendo ir con ideas previas del artista, aunque si no lo conoces al ir vas a tener más ganas de investigar sobre él 😉 Si sos docente tenes un pequeño descuento presentando recibo de sueldo que será $4500 aproximadamente o menos La entrada está $5mil pesos, no más de $6 mil pesos, aceptan diferentes...
