After living in suitcase for few weeks and tasting all the European food, my Asian stomach really misses Asian Cuisine especially when you are slightly under the weather. We specially ordered two bowls of Chinese soup and vegetables.
As we asked him where he was from, he is from Hong Kong. Learning that we were from Hong Kong as well, he shared some of the old photos with us. OMG!! That’s simply amazing, they were the photos with the internally - renowned director, Wong Kar Wai and Actor, Tony Leung! The famous Hong Kong movie was partially shot here!
As we scrolled through the photos, we felt the time slipped through our fingers! The then-young kid has become the chief chef here, the baby boy of the boss has grown into a handsome young man!
Mr. Wan (萬先生)said his family escaped from the 67 riot, the turbulent time in Hong Kong during 1967, and came here. Since then, they have been grounded here! He has both Argentinian passport and British Passport, but he could not return to china due to its strict closed-door COVID policy.
The food really cures my fidget stomach and the heart-warming stories of the restaurant makes me miss the Hong Kong if not entirely homesick!
The food is rather affordable and of authentic Chinese flavor (Approved by a Chinese Me ;P). We paid 10,000 pesos for 5 dishes! Come here for a visit and possibly dig further into the pass of the history.
The restaurant looks...
Read moreMaybe I came with high expectations based on the reviews I read. Went for lunch, “hot and sour” soup was OK, not great, not a lot of flavor. “Grilled pork dumplings” were pan fried not grilled and they were also OK, the dough was very thick and chewy, I doubt if they’re made in house. Then “Shrimp Toast” that I thought was a bit bizarre, a pile of light airy toasts that had no discernible shrimp flavor and looked like packing material from Amazon Not...
Read moreThis place was surprisingly good! Better than a lot of Chinese food we have eaten in Los Angeles! We were looking for a break from the meats, and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the standard stuff - Rice, Noodles and Kung pao chicken, and all of them were quite flavorful and good. The Cubierta (cover charge) for each person is a little annoying, but that is something most restaurants in this part of the world charge, so won't hold it...
