Let me start with saying this: this hotel is NOT a five-star hotel. Overall it was fine – ‘nice’ even – but it was not in any way outstanding or five-star, as advertised.||The only real ‘stand out’ positive is the location of this hotel – incredibly central, and almost everywhere in BA was accessible from this location. It’s very close to Plaza de Mayo, Puerto Madero, and a single Metro train away from Palermo, Retiro and Recoleta.||Otherwise... ||STAFF: generally the staff were quite unfriendly, lacking in warmth and a little rude (except 2 front desk staff, who were lovely and helpful - we forget their names, unfortunately, as they were really worthy of acknowledgement). ||CHECK IN: we arrived quite late at night (11pm) and the man on the desk had no idea what was going on. He couldn’t find our reservation, he even at first said there are no bookings left today. He also de didn’t speak much English (and our Spanish is poor) so we were relying on Google Translate. He was overall quite unfriendly, rude and didn’t crack a smile once. Once he found our reservation, he just handed us a key, and smiled. Nothing else. We had a few questions – such as ‘what time is breakfast?’ – and he just gave 1-3 word answers, and then walked off before we’d even left the desk.||SERVICES: there were multiple issues with ‘reception services’ – there’s an online app to request most services. We used this four times, and only once was the request ever picked up/actioned. On two occasions we had requested directly at reception for the room to be made up, as we were missed out of the housekeeping rounds. Both times this wasn’t done (which we only discovered when we arrived back much later in the evening. Housekeeping was patchy overall – they made the bed and replenished towels daily (minus the aforementioned two days!); but never changed or refilled the shower gel, shampoo, soap etc. We called them multiple times about this before it was done. Our tea and coffee pods were also never replaced.||ROOM: the room was fine – just fine. There were a lot of wear and tear issues. A chipped floor (literally, half the wood panel chipped off, and we kept catching socks on it!); the air-conditioning was quite loud and clunky; the shower was poor (too much pressure, far too hot, and the shower head kept falling off the bracket); the curtains and net curtain were too small for the window – so let the light through, waking us up every day before 6am. (We asked for eye masks, but the hotel said they ‘didn’t have any, sorry’). There was also very little storage spaces: just one big cupboard and two single-drawer bedside tables – we were there 2 weeks, and really needed more space to unpack. ||BREAKFAST: was OK, and a good selection of hot and cold options. Did quite enjoy the many sweet treats on offer! Though, the staff were frankly quite rude – to the extent that for our last three days we opted not to have breakfast, as we didn’t want to face the staff again. Even in response to polite, basic asks – like for some cutlery or a coffee cup – were met with eye rolls, or a curt – ‘you have to wait, sir’ (even though there were apparently just stood there talking behind the bar area). On one occasion, I politely asked for an omelette, only to be met with the staff member’s hand up in my face, and “no sir, first, happy new year” – and only when I returned the greeting, did she take her hand down and then quite rudely ask me “what do you want?”. ||ROOFTOP POOL: is very small, and technically in the neighbouring hotel. Can only fit about 8 sunbeds/people alongside it and a handful more on the lower bit away from the pool. At times it was heaving busy, and some people had resorted to just lying around the edges of the pool. The poolside food menu is also limited, but pricey.||GYM: the gym is good overall. I used the phone to ask for some towels, as there were none in the gym itself. I spoke to a man who was quite rude, and just said “towels for the gym? No. Anything else?” And then hung up. But then a few days later, I was in the gym again, and someone was replenishing a shelf with…guess what…towels!||TIME OF YEAR: We were also visiting over the holiday period (both Christmas and New Year). There was a significant lack of communication from the hotel around this time – i.e. breakfast times over Christmas and New Year (on both Christmas Day and NY Day we rushed down to breakfast at 9:30, only to be told it finished at 12 noon, not 10am as on ‘normal’ weekdays - so lost a good holiday lie-in!); Christmas/NY dinner options or availability locally; or help with ‘what to do’ on those days as we knew they were officially public holidays. We asked at reception, and they provided frustratingly little help – so we had to rely on Google as best we could! It was really unhelpful to the say the least; as knowing more about the local context, offer, opening times etc, would have helped us better plan our time.||Additionally, on New Year’s Eve, we were informed via printed note under the door, that the hotel was having a NYE party – 160 USD per person! We opted to take our changes and go elsewhere (and did find somewhere fun locally!), but on returning (after celebrating NY) we were told by reception the hotel party was going on until 3am, and our room happened to be right above the party courtyard. The music was so loud, even with the window closed, so we asked for earplugs – and was told the hotel ‘didn’t have any, sorry’. Not impressed, and not a good night's sleep to start 2025!||Like I started with - this is a 'fine' hotel. That's it. Nothing noteworthy; even nothing terrible. Just average - in TripAdvisor terms. It just was not at at all what we were expecting from a five-star hotel. Sadly, we wouldn’t recommend or return to this specific hotel – which is a shame, as we would also book an NH Hotel wherever we can, and this particular hotel...
Read moreThis is not a 5* hotel - no pool and no bar.
The location is very convenient, so that’s good.
Our Junior suite is spacious but there’s a lack of furniture compared to the space. No view. The TV is small and doesn’t connect to the WiFi. No tissues in the bathroom or room. One child size robe isn’t going to work for two fully grown men. No turn down service. The Bathroom door doesn’t shut and the Minibar is not well stocked. No pool in the hotel. No bar in the hotel. Restaurant serves alcohol in the evening but it’s not a bar and certainly not a 5* bar! Food is basic. When we arrived the Shower head and thermostat were broken and ultimately told all thermostats are like that, I.e. missing a piece. Varied breakfast was good overall but scrambled eggs pan full of water and bacon not crispy. Nice pink sparkling wine. GF options. There is access to the hotel pool next door but it’s dirty. There is a hotel lobby bar next door but anyone can walk into another hotel bar. The welcome drinks station in the lobby doesn’t get cleared all day. If this was marketed as 3* I would have few complaints, but again, 5*...
