Good Morning My name is B. Rodriguez. I stayed at NH City Hotel Buenos Aeries Argentina from March 2, 2025 to March 6, 2025. At 4am (0400) on March 5th, I was working on some assignments on my computer. The electricity started to turn off and on and then stayed off. It became very hot that morning and afternoon as it was 90F degrees outside and we were all sweating inside the room. We tried opening the room windows where the sun wasn’t shining towards in different rooms in hopes to get a breeze to go through but it still remained very hot in the room. We went downstairs to ask when the electricity would come back on and the front desk told us by 2pm (1400). We went out locally to eat and came back about 3:30pm (1530). The electricity and AC wasnt on! I asked the woman at the front desk t desk again and she assured us that the electricity would be on at 11pm (2300). My wife had work to do for her job and the rooms were hot and still without electricity. At 11pm (2300) we came back down, after just sitting in the dark hot room, and hoping that the electricity and AC would come on. Still no electricity or AC. She told us that the set up a banquet room that ran an extension cord from somewhere outside the hotel into the banquet room. People were using that extension cord. So the front desk connected several extension cords all together which was very dangerous to do because I know from training that extension cords should never be connected to one another. This room had about 3 to 4 extension cords all connected to one another. I tried using one of the cords to charge our computers and took them upstairs where we worked in the dark and u til they died again. Throughout the night from March 5th to March 6th there was still no electricity. We checked out around 4pm and I asked the woman at the desk if she would compensate us for the room on the days it had no electricity. She said yes but she did t know how to do it since I used American Express Platinum card. I contacted AMEX while I was at the desk and the lady at the desk gave me a number for them to call. As American Express was making several attempts to call the hotel, there were no lines ringing. Then the woman at the front desk said that it would be best to email instead of calling. She gave me the email to give American Express travel while I was on the phone with them. She ( I believe her name is Mary - it’s the same woman who checked me out and gave me the receipt) again told me to tell American Express to send an email and that was the way of getting the refund for 1 days compensation. That was on March 6th. Today is March 12th and there still isn’t a reply from the hotel and the hotel has also put us on hold for longer than 45 mins several times when they found out I was calling for compensation station for the day that there was no electricity. I’m not sure why neither I or American Express travel can get through to the hotel for compensation and this is supposed to be one of the most prestigious hotels in the area. I have been attempting for several days to request the 1 days rate for compensation of no electricity and AC during the last day and a half of our stay. Please let me know how we can move forward and settle this matter. Your attention to this matter would truly be appreciated. I have lots of videos showing the entire events that took place when there was electricity or AC. These are just a few snapshots of the day where there was no AC or electricity and it was 90F degrees outside and we were sweating in our rooms. I’m just trying to get the refund on the day we had no electric and AC as promised by the woman at the desk. Respectfully, B. Rodriquez Room...

They actually called me after check in making me guess they saw this first review to check if everything was fine. Honestly I just said yes because I didn't want to be bothered, they had already charged me $50 USD or so for early check in and I was tired after a flight and just wanted to rest. The room was again, dirty. The bed tables were considerably dusty and one of the windows had been left open. Dusty under the bed. Breakfast was fine, eggs are still bad but I guess has a good variety of cold items. I found out you could order omelettes cooked to order which were good! First stay there was bacon daily in the breakfast, second stay no bacon at all.
Again main thing is cleanliness seems to be a consistently bad part, the room drapery was also in a bad state in the second room. It's just too old. It's a cheap fix to replace drapery. Again bathroom was perfectly fine, beds are comfy. Front desk staff nickles and dimes but I guess it's management policy and not their own, but otherwise the ones I interacted with this time were nicer.
I suggest changing the controls for the lights in the room. They're not intuitive and you can turn on and off lights on the second bedroom from the main bedroom which is not ideal.
ORIGINAL UNEDITED REVIEW: This hotel is branded as a 5-star, which is funny to me since it's a 3 star at best. Being a historic property does not mean things have to be in disrepair. Being a hotelier by trade I've personally worked at older properties than this hotel in which everything was perfect, as it should be in a 5 star property. Breakfast was ok, expect the same quality as a Holiday Inn or similar budget property. Eggs were terrible but everything else was ok. Rooms were dated and very dusty, they don't seem to clean under the beds regularly. The curtains need changing, they're old and have holes in them. Bathroom worked perfectly fine, good water temperature and pressure. Bed was comfy. Really the lowlight to me was the front desk staff. Plain rude, everything was "impossible". They wanted to nickel and dime one for anything, zero willingness to help out at all. This really was only the case at the hotel itself since in every other restaurant or service establishment during our trip to Argentina we received very good service, but the hotel front desk staff was beyond entitled and rude. I loved the location and the building, but the staff is badly trained and always had a negative attitude and the in-room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Also if anyone is booking a family room be aware there is no door to the second bedroom. There's plenty of space for a door, but no door at all which made our stay less than ideal. Easy cheap fix, one nightly room rate (the cost to install a door) will greatly increase the guest satisfaction on the...
