Tancat — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

We did not eat here but would have loved to have tried their food. However, the service leaves much to be desired. We walked in to an empty restaurant at 7.40pm, with only two ladies about to finish their dinner and the host decided to sit us in the furthest, darkest corner, away from anything and everything. I asked why could we not sit anywhere else and he said they were fully booked in 20 mins. The restaurant has easily 50 seats, I find it hard to believe that he could not do any better and that they would be fully booked within the next 20 minutes. It basically seemed like they did not want us there. Fair enough if that was the case, your house your rules but don't try to fill us with nonsense. You don't want our money then fine, we happily went and spent it at another restaurant who were delighted to have us. Its a real shame, given how much competition there is in the area. Decided to stop there while on my way to another restaurant further down Calle Paraguay. Could not have had a better lunch. Food was delicious, very authentic and served rather quickly. Very fair prices. Wine available by the glass. Decoration is great and makes for a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. The variety of small eats as well as full dishes make the place perfect for a quick meal or a long sit-down with friends. Great place to bring a date. On the downside, the restaurant was out of quite a few dishes (which the waiter informed me of in advance). Staff was as amiable and attentive as one could ask for. I highly recommend the "Tabla Casi de Rutina" mix of ham, salami cuts and cheese (delicious); the grilled "chipirones de la Tasca" if you like calamari (very fresh); and definitely leave room for desert and try the "arroz con leche" WITH dulce de leche inside. We went to this delightful restaurant on the 30th of November 2019. It was rammed full, and we were advised only the long bar was available. This was a memorable experience of eating and drinking along a bar top that extends the length of the restaurant. It allowed us to mingle and engage with the locals and the waiters, this made a truly wonderful meal and evening. The food was impressive, we had the sirloin steak and longustine prawns.
