My husband and I were weathered in one day and wanted a convenient place to have dinner. We ended up going across the street (we were staying at the Alma), and we fell in love with Refugio Viejo.
They welcomed us with mulled wine and a toasty fire, then an appetizer of marinated eggplants. All of it was such a delightful surprise. We then ordered the croquettes and found them tasty with great texture. I ordered the trout with vegetables for my entree and my husband ordered the venison. We had the deer meat and pumpkin ravioli for mains and the raspberry semifreddo as recommended by other reviewers). The semifreddo was the...

A starter of marinated black beans with crostini came to our table as we enjoyed our drinks. The special was lamb sweetbreads which were perfectly cooked and sat on a cauliflower puree. A must try is the mushroom dish. Absolute perfection. A nicely edited wine list compliments the food. A cozy setting and a view...
