I'll preface this by saying I'm an American that spent a lot of time in Canada. I came here with my wife and my 3yr old son for lunch on a Saturday - it was an absolute ghost town and the open sign was flipped to "closed", but we walked in and they were actually open - strange way to start things off. First impressions - to compare this to an American diner is laughable. It's not even remotely similar. It's a very open layout with a modern vibe. The place really needs some TLC (it's starting to look a bit sad). When we walked up to the counter, there was nobody there. After waiting awkwardly for a bit, someone came up from the kitchen to take our order. We ordered a couple of burgers, chicken nuggets, the "traditional poutine", and a couple of drinks. The burger was probably the best part of it. Pretty greasy, but the flavour was ok. The poutine was a joke. I would guess the oil the fries were cooked in was very old. The flavour and aftertaste was strange. Also, shredded mozzarella on a poutine in Canada is considered a crime against humanity and with good reason - no cheese curds in sight. Certainly nothing traditional about it. After we got out food, my wife had gone up to the counter to ask about getting some dipping sauce for the nuggets, but once again, there was no body there to ask. I went up to ask about a takeaway container and after standing awkwardly for a couple of minutes, I saw someone's head slouched over in the kitchen glaring at her phone. She finally popped her head up and came over with the container. Overall and considering what we paid, the whole experience was a letdown. I certainly will not be...
Read moreHad an absolutely horrible experience tonight. We ordered from menulog, specifically because they had vegan nuggets on the menu. We placed the order and the food arrived in good time, no issues with menulog or the delivery driver. However, there were two bags of onion rings and no vegan nuggets. I checked the receipt to make sure I didn't make a mistake... thankfully, I hadn't.
So I called the restaurant to let them know they forgot to sent the vegan nuggets. The girl who answered said, "No we didn't forget, we just don't have them". I asked what she meant, as they are a menu item listed on menulog. She said they just don't have them right now, so they sent extra onion rings instead. When I asked why they had them listed as available on menulog, she said "I don't know". I told her if I knew they weren't available I would've ordered from somewhere else. She said, "ok". No apology for what happened.
I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and she said there was no one there to speak to. Knowing I would call back another time, I asked for her name and she wouldn't give it to me. I said, "Ok, well how can I get a refund for the item I paid for but didn't receive?" She said, "Call menulog".
I have called menulog, and I expect they will be fantastic and give us a refund.
But this level of customer service from Benny's is SHOCKING. We won't order from this place again and won't...
Read moreWe recently attended this venue on a Thursday afternoon. The staff were friendly enough however for a $42 lunch, it was quite disappointing. We ordered jalapeno bites, chicken tenders with 'garlic and herb sauce' and a Fat Boy burger as a dine in meal.
The venue was clean and tidy, albeit empty with us and one other table of 4. The jalapeno bites were good, exactly what I would have expected for a standard frozen product. The chicken tenders were a chicken breast and had good flavour however were quite thin and dry, some bites were cold and the sauce had no liquid. It was garlic and herbs cooked down into a paste and put over the top. The burger was large and came with a side of chips. The chips were cooked fresh and had a healthy dose of seasoning on top. The burger itself had bacon on it although the menu didn't indicate that it would. The pattie and the brisket were both quite dry and not hot and was drowing in bbq sauce. The onion wasn't quite cooked enough for us. Overall, it was disappointing and not what...
