Chiangmai is a deliteful restraunt, known for its authentic Northern Thai cuisine. The moment you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable dining experience.
Food: The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Khao Soi, a rich coconut curry noodle soup that is a must-try. The broth is perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of spice and creaminess. The tender chicken and crispy noodles on top add wonderful texture. Other dishes, like the Som Tum (papaya salad) and Pad See Ew, also shine, showcasing fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors.
Service: The staff is friendly and attentive, providing recommendations with a genuine passion for their cuisine. They make you feel at home, enhancing the overall experience.
Ambiance: The restaurant has a cozy, rustic charm, with traditional decor that reflects the local culture. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal.
Value: Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. It’s an excellent choice for both budget travelers and those looking to indulge a bit.
Overall, Khao Soi Khun Yai is a must-visit for anyone in Chiang Mai seeking authentic Northern Thai flavors in a welcoming environment. I can’t...
Read moreMy partner and I got takeout from here - ordered over the phone. Now when we're paying $60+ for dinner, we tend to expect 100% quality, as that price is comparable to restaurants in the CBD. We ordered pandan chicken and two serves of the massaman curry. When we collected it, the bag had oil in it, from the curry leaking out of the containers - instead of perhaps fixing it, they just wrapped it in cling wrap (great). When we got home, not only were we having to deal with the amount of oil that was coating the takeaway containers, but the curry itself was separated 60/40 with 40% of it being oil. Now I give credit to the fact it tasted nice and was cooked well but omg, for over $60, I expect SO much better. The pandan chicken was also quite lackluster, bland and oily, which considering each chicken piece was wrapped in 30cm of pandan leaf, is crazy to me. Based on the recent Google reviews, I'm gonna assume my partner and I had a bad, unique batch, and are outliers. But personally, I would not...
Read moreHave been here for either dine in or take out several times and the food has been great but was very disappointed this time. I ordered over the phone and wait time was double what I was told. Spring Rolls were great but the sweet & sour sauce was very runny and almost clear in colour. The Sea Stars were ok, not as good as previously but their sauce was quite oily to the point it was separating. The Peanut Chicken was terrible. The chicken was stringy and dry and the peanut sauce was like soup. It's like their sauces are very watered down. The Pad-see-aew noodles were quite good but the chicken was once again stringy and dry. I know people have off nights but this was pretty poor and I won't be returning. There are many Thai options near me so a bad experience means...
