Emperor's Crown Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Adelaide

Seems they have got the formular back to front. Whilst we expected an updated venue but keeping the same staff and food, instead we got a tired and run down venue with updated staff. I hadn't been to this restaurant for 10 years but it used to be a favourite of mine. We travelled across town for my birthday dinner to find the place looked the same it did 10 years ago. Except, awkward cold white lighting, lack of music, and no culture. The staff were friendly although a little awkward (not sure why 2 people stood over us to take our order). The tables around us were sprayed with spray and wipe whilst we ate which was a lovely added taste to the food. The mismatched glass wear was dirty and our soft drink was flat. The food was the biggest let down. Flavourless, watery and fatty food that was far from authentic. We didn't eat our final 3 dishes as we had filled up on the prawn crackers (the only item that tasted nice). This place is definitely under new management. Well, where do you start. At the beginning I guess. We arrived last night and there were about 8 other patrons, we order two dishes, but didn't get asked if we wanted rice, and not told the dish (and I say dish) would be just the main. The first meal arrived and was great, tender chicken and very tasty. Twenty minutes later we were still waiting for the second dish. We could see the staff looking over and wondering why only one person was eating. Then arrived a bowl of the food we already had. Oh that's right you gave half our order to someone else. When we asked what was happening there was no apology, when I said "you gave it to another table?" We got yes, but still nothing. Having to be at the movie soon we asked for take away. Then got asked if we had already paid for it. Dissapointed as what we did get was great. Would I go back, nah. I imagine the take...

I've being going here off and on for 20-25 years. Got takeaway approx 2-3 months ago from memory, and was charged a surcharge for using a credit card. This time I went in with cash. I noticed they weren't charging a surcharge to other customers using credit cards now. BUT the price has gone up a lot ! From the 2-3 month old menu I had at home. Obviously now they have now just added the "credit card surcharge" + an extra few % to there menu items now, regardless if you are paying by credit card or cash. All I got was 1 satay beef 1 sweet and sour pork "that was more vegies than pork" and a extra large f/rice @ $49.80. Last time I got the same it was $40.90 "over 20% price rise" in 2-3 months !

Food was ok, pretty much average.

I get it your in business to make money. but you shouldn't be in business to rip people off !
