This was a super disappointing experience! It was like everyone working here was vacant and disinterested, which was unfortunate because we really wanted to like here. Not one of our orders were given to us correctly, to the point we stopped going back in to ask because it seemed like a bit of a joke. Firstly the coffees were made opposite despite reiterating two or three times. This was a problem because one of the coffees was meant to be decaf and the other was not meant to have sugar in it. Then the desserts ordered were forgotten about and didn’t arrive until my partner went inside to ask, 15 minutes later. Which, considering it was just pre-made cake and cheesecakes in the display fridge, was a red flag. After, we thought we’d order a pot of tea to share. It took a good 2 minutes of waiting at the counter before anyone noticed, despite the cafe being quiet. The wait staff seemed to not want to even look in the direction of the counter. When the tea was ordered, we asked for a large pot with two glasses and milk and said it was to share between two. The tea came with one glass, and no milk, and the waitress very promptly left before we could ask if she was coming back with the rest. At that point, it seemed kind of ridiculous to go back in a third time to ask for our order to be fixed so we tried to drink the tea and left. We know sometimes places have a bad day and if even two of these mistakes were made, we probably would have understood. But every single order was missing parts or wrong, and the staff seemed annoyed about even serving customers. Sadly, we won’t...
Read moreI have been here three times now. From memory I've had a mocha, sweet potato fries, carrot cake and today an Iced Soy Mocha. The Vibe: Feels more like a deli with cafe highlights. They specialise in takeaway and catering. The team seem to gel really well, however after walking in as a customer, there was no hello or anything. They just kept chatting to themselves. Happened on two of my three visits. I like to be supportive for local business, so I'll just mention to the boss that it's really important to model to your staff on customer service. It goes a long way for retaining future customers.
Dining: Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I appreciated the sunshade outdoors. Indoors is pretty dull and echoes with sounds from the kitchen. The young lady who served my drink was friendly and smiley.
☕ I have had A LOT of Iced Soy Mochas around Adelaide, so my standards are pretty high these days. :') The roast was smooth and had a caramel aftertaste. Size was decent value for money. One thing to note: the staff didn't check if adding a massive dairy scoop of icecream was okay, as I had ordered with SOY milk. Majority of places check first. ✅ Bio cup and straw.
Overall, I would combine my experiences and rate this spot a 3.8/5 Maybe next time I will try a meal, and consider raising my score. Really hope they can work on their...
Read moreMy first experience of Esculent was good, so I headed back with my family and was quite embarrassed that's where we had to eat lunch. Complete opposite experiences and won't be rushing to return. None of the staff appeared like they wanted to be there, when asking for a high chair the young girl simply said" yeah they're all right there" and pointed around the corner (last time they actually brought me a high chair). There was no cutlery anywhere we had to keep getting up to ask for some at the counter. No serviettes/napkins, no knives, no even offer of table water.
Even when I ordered at the counter, the gentleman that served me seemed annoyed that I was ordering, like they were about to close? except google said they were open until 8pm and it was only about 1pm..
Asked for some tomato sauce with the chips and it came across as a huge chore..
Definitely not recommending to anyone anytime soon. Better work on your customer service...
