NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION ... but I'm not surprised... after they were shut down by the Health Department years ago!!!
Ordered the crispy fried pork for lunch. There was nothing REMOTELY resembling food on this plate. Not only was it NOTHING like the photo... it looked like rubble!!! Anything that resembled meat was IMPOSSIBLE to chew! and the rest was just fried batter and crumbs!!!!
Quantity was disgraceful... the photo was a full plate that looked appetizing. What came out was barely HALF the amount shown... and made me want to weep!
The rice... in the photo was half the plate, but in reality was in a tiny little bowl that barely constituted 2 tablespoons!!
But couldn't eat it... because it was gluggy and tasted like CARPET!!!
Sweet corn soup with asparagus was REVOLTING ... tasted like tap water, from the tap in ya back yard! The chicken tasted like the poor bird was brutalized before slaughtering! You could taste the trauma!!!
Don't even get me started on the atmosphere! Beyond dysmal! Ghastly chairs... like the ones you find in a retirement village lunch room! And nothing screams class and quality establishment like PAPER TABLECLOTHS!!!
The woman who served us ... ugh! You could just tell she preferred to be at home cleaning her oven than at work serving us commoners!
When I asked for a little sweet and sour sauce to add to the rubble, to disguise the god awful taste... she proceeded to tell me that she'd have to charge me!!!!!
I imagine it would break the bank for her to spare a couple of tablespoons of sweet and sour sauce... to numb the trauma of having to consume rubble and CHEWY pig offal!!!
NEVER... EVER AGAIN!!!!!
90% of the patrons were in their twilight years... so I suspect they're barely working with a couple of remaining taste buds...
... and I imagine that the good reviews they have online are either from family and friends and the elderly ... or people who simply don't have discerning tastes or high (or ANY) expectations!
I don't think I'll ever DRIVE by this place again... let alone ever...

Entree’s
Satay beef consisted of tough meat that was coated in a heavy batter & pre fried, then re cooked & had a gluggy, thick, sugary sweet peanut sauce,
Dim Sim was extremely hot on outside & stone cold on the inside,
Prawn toast was what one can only describe as as oily bread with a dehydrated prawn on top.
Mains
Fried Rice, that can only be describe as anemic, flavourless & simply “un fried” (perhaps boiled).
Prawns with cashew nuts consisting of stale cashews, salty chewy prawns, mushed vegetables (worse than frozen veggies) & again the gluggy sauce was unpalatable.
Szechuan beef, over cooked beef & again mushy over cooked vegetables, inclcuding mushy celery.
Most concerning was that each of the above over cooked dishes came out to our table within under 3 minutes of ordering, how is that even possible??? Well according to the front of house management team this is achieved by a “jet blast cooker” hmmmm I’m guessing this is a “code name” for microwave.
We were unable to eat more than a mouthful of each dish & upon requesting our bill, there was no enquiry even made by the staff as to why our entire meals had been returned un eaten. We tried to share our meal experience with the staff at the desk but they became arrogant, hostile & argumentative, then told us the food had all been pre cooked before & now just cooked with a “jet blast cooker” [sic]. We proceeded to ask for our almost full wine bottles lid, a random lid was retrieved out of the rubbish bin & placed on our bottle by a staff member, we then refused to take our wine home due to them putting this dirty lid on the bottle & then the wine bottle was place back in the shelf. No attempt was made by the staff to rectify our atrocias experience & we left with an extremely bad taste in our mouths (not just from the food), we...
Read moreIf you're in search of a bustling, traditional Chinese restaurant offering hearty dishes, look no further than Yum Sing in Reynella. This was exactly the experience my companions and I had when we decided to stop by for dinner.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a warm, welcoming ambiance. The place was buzzing with families and groups, a testament to its popularity among locals.
Starting with the Chicken and Sweet Corn Soup, it was a delightfully comforting experience. Generous chunks of chicken swimming in a tasty broth set a high standard for the dishes to follow. The Singapore Noodles, full of flavor, and the well-prepared fried rice, did not disappoint.
The main course featured the Roast Duck in Plum Sauce and the generously portioned Satay Chicken. Both dishes proved to be as satisfying as they sound, with the roast duck standing out with its tasteful sauce and tender meat.
For dessert, the deep-fried ice cream and sticky date pudding offered a delightful finish. The combination of hot and cold in the ice cream was pleasantly surprising, and the sticky date pudding hit the sweet spot perfectly.
What stood out, apart from the food, was the efficient and friendly service. Despite the hustle and bustle, the staff ensured we were well attended to.
As for the pricing, it was reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the dishes. This isn't a fine dining venue, but it certainly stands as a great option for families looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
Overall, I'd rate Yum Sing at a strong 7.5 out of 10. It may not be a destination restaurant, but if you find yourself in the area, it's well worth a visit for its wholesome dishes and...
