Exchange Hotel — Restaurant in Adelaide

Sadly, a BIG disappointment... When your receipt says you ordered food at 6:40pm and you are still having discussions with staff at 8:15pm about how much longer the food is going to take, then something is definitely a miss! Our son was keenly looking forward to celebrating his birthday here, but unfortunately we were all in for a disappointing evening. We were given a variety of excuses as to why our 18 meals were taking so long, from the venue being booked out, to unexpected people arriving and even the kitchen running out of gas.... So not sure exactly what the reason was, just know that it was an epic fail and completely unacceptable. When the meals finally did arrive, let's just say that they weren't anything to write home about! My chicken burger was very mediocre... oily, soggy and I have been uncomfortable all night trying to digest it. Someone's steak, instead of being med -well was way over cooked and as dry as boot leather. And to top it all off, we then needed to ask staff to clear the dirty plates off of the table! The only positive of the evening was one of your wait staff, Vanessa. Apparently she wasn't the manager last night.... We never saw him! But she was the poor girl who tried to smooth over our large group of unhappy customers... If it wasn't for her caring attitude, this rating would have been a 1. I guess my biggest disappointment would be for my son... Being locals, he had been really looking forward to coming to your venue and sharing the evening with family and friends and instead of raving about his experience, it has left a negative impression not only on him, ...

It was nice and warm in here on this cold Sunday evening. The gas and electric heating were working well, We hadn't been here before so we weren't sure what to expect. We liked the menu and picked a few of our favourites. For starters we had wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce..and also garlic bread. The mains were Fish & chips, a chicken snitty and a beef snitty.

The wedges were amazing. Very crunchy but soft inside we loved them. The garlic bread was very sad, it needed more garlic flavour, although the bread was fresh and soft, i found it mostly bread with a hint of butter and garlic. It could be toasted a bit more too. The snitty's are pretty good. The coating is tasty and meat tender. The battered fish is also pretty good. All the meals came with what looked like coleslaw and in one of them we discovered a piece of light blue plastic, that looked like cling wrap. Perhaps it's used to cover the coleslaw. 🤔 I brought it to the waitresses attention as she cleared the table. Just so they could check the slaw in future. (No one had any other problems. Looked like a 1 off, so we didn't make a big deal over it) It was a good experience. Love to come back..but will keep an eye on...

I would like to thank the exchange hotel Gawler it’s a tru demographic of why people of my age group don’t go out ! I am a local of Gawler Went there Saturday night with other business owners from the aria , after getting through the security check at the door proceeded to a table off of the dance floor picking up an empty can from the table headed to the bar to get a round of drinks putting the can on the bar about to order the bar staff telling me to leave coming from the bar aria manhandeling me and calling sucurity . No explanation was listened to ! Calling speaking to manager on duty and expecting phone call or email next day ! Nothing coming from your business after trying numerous times . So in conclusion thank you for our Xmas show have spoken to the other local business owners I was with at the time and we will not be coming back to your establishment . Thinking the laws are just there to look after your business is quite wrong on your part they are there for the safety of your costomers too I will be contacting liquor licensing ! Thank u for getting back to me so promptly to resolve...
