ADDIT: After a couple of disastrous visits to the PA, we returned yesterday (15/8) for my birthday and they did not disappoint! We had a table of 7 or 8 if you include the dog. They catered for our every needs. Including, cooking a meal for our Malamute! Everyone enjoyed their food, it come out in a timely manner and was fresh and crispy! Thanks to the PA crew, especially Oscar and Susie! You guys are awesome! PS. the cocktails were amazing! We used to be regulars at the PA prior to the new owners taking over, we would be in weekly (providing my shift work allowed), just before the new owner took over the food quality started to diminish and so we stopped going and went elsewhere. Once the new owners took over, we decided to give it another go! We order the same thing everytime. Schnitzels! The first time we come back a month ago, the food was top notch, we ordered garlic bread for entree and it was awesome, you could actually taste the garlic and not just warm bread and butter, I ordered the beef schnitzel with kilpatrick topping and a side of hollandaise and my husband ordered the chicken parmi, honestly couldn't fault it. We thought "awesome" we've got our old favourite spot back. Thats when it went down hill, we returned a week later and ordered the same thing but my husband tried the salt and pepper squid, the salt and pepper squid, couldn't fault. However, when my beef schnitzel with kilpatrick topping come out, it didn't have any cheese. I thought oh maybe it doesn't come with cheese anymore. However, I looked at the newly printed menu on the table next to us and no, sure enough your kilpatrick topping come with sauce, bacon and cheese. When I took my meal up to the counter, the young lass that served me stated " we don't put cheese on our kilpatrick ". When I stated that it was on the menu, she took the schnitzel and went to the kitchen. She then returned, and said "sorry, we don't normally put cheese on the kilpatrick". I told her that I had checked the menu prior to coming up to the counter as I didn't want to make a fool of myself. When the schnitzel returned, the chips were cold, like they had just been sitting under the warmer for the time that the schnitzel was receiving its "melted cheese". By the time the meal had come out my husband had nearly finished his meal. We left disappointed. However, we gave it another go tonight, 24/4, again we ordered the same thing we normally do, my husband had the chicken parmi and I ordered the beef kilpatrick and a garlic bread for entree. We were disappointed from the get go. It took nearly 40 minutes to get the "garlic" bread that was just warm bread and butter. Then when our main meals come out, my husband received what he had ordered and I received a chicken kilpatrick instead of beef. Once again, I took it to the counter and handed it back to the same girl that had the argument with my over the cheese. My husbands parmi, was soggy, flavourless and on the verge of being luke warm, the chips were warm and undercooked and by the time my meal had come out "correctly" he had already eaten. My "new" meal was underwhelming, the chips were cold, like they had been placed under the warmer while a new schnitzel was being cooked and the schnitzel itself was disappointing and had next to no flavour. By the time I was offered a "free" drink, all I wanted to do was walk out without eating. It was extremely disappointing for the money we paid. - $10 for warm bread and butter - $28 for a beef schnitzel, $6 kilpatrick topping and $3/4 for a side of hollandaise (with no salad) - $29 for a chicken schnitzel with a parmi topping Sadly, we won't be returning to what used to be a fabulous pub.

First of all, I never give 5 stars, but lets discuss the Prince Albert Hotel in Gawler; 1. The food. Really good, chefs provided prompt service and gave us a decent portion of food (view my salt and pepper main squid below $21 GF) for the price we paid. Meal was warm, properly cooked and well presented. 2. Service, we were served by a young lady today that seemed inexperienced. We askes to confirm if the chips were gluten free when I ordered my GF Salt and pepper squid as it said chips were apart of it. Couldn't get an answer. As well as other gaps in confirming our meals. 3. Facilities, we didn't use the bathrooms, but the tables were clean, and stacked with what we needed for a meal. Good work Prince Albert Hotel

Snitty’s are on the generous size, crunchy outside and juicy on the inside, chips are underneath which actually didn’t make them soggy. Can’t remember the price of the beef snitzel but the chicken was $26 plain, $2 for the gravy and $6 to add kilpatrick which then makes it to be quite expensive for a snitzel, but due to the size of it, it works out ok as I got two meals as I took it home for lunch, I know not everyone will eat a left over but I am not opposed to that, and the next day it was still delish. Will definitely go back and would definitely recommend. It was just cold in the venue being so large, if you love live music you can enjoy that on certain nights too and the cocktails were good too!

Ordered, PA Steak MR with red wine jus, 250gm Steak MED gravy on the side for one of my kids, Salt n Pepper Squid for the other and homemade gnocchi. The steaks were on the wrong plates. The kids couldnt eat the MR steak, which was meant for me, because it had absolutelty no flavour and wasnt even seasoned. The MED steak that was meant for the kids was covered by the red wine jus which the alcohol wasnt cooked off properly. The chips were obviously cooked well in advance and was cold and tasted like cold oil. All the veges were over cooked and the roast potatoes were swimming in oil. The portion size of the Salt n Pepper squid was very small for the price you pay. The homemade gnocchi was over cooked, including the broccolini. The ricotta and white wine sauce was terrible and again the white wine wasnt cooked off properly. Its clear either the chef doesnt taste their food and shouldnt cook or they doesnt care. The service was pretty ordinary as well. Once the meals were delivered, no follow up to see if the meals ok which would have meant I would have sent the meals back. Once we were finish with what little what was edible, the plates were only cleared after we were leaving, not to mention plenty of other tables that werent cleared and had leftsover which attracted a lot of flies. My daughter counted 12 flies buzzing around our table alone. When a waitress did come she took the glass and left all the plates on the table, did not even ask if we were finished which a waitress with experience would have clearly seen. Getting a drink was annoyning, you had to walk past a empty/clear section, which would have been perfect for guests that were dining to be served drinks, into the public bar with everyone sitting at the bar so it mad it awkward to order a drink There was 5 staff on at 6pm on a Saturday which would have been ample. I paid $130 for 4 meals that I didnt finish, ended up going to Maccas to...

We are new to the area and knew nothing about the Prince Albert Hotel. We were hopeful of a good meal but sadly that wasn't the case. My husband order chicken schnitzel, chips and salad. I ordered two sides: sweet potato fries and onion rings. The best part of the meal was the onion rings, although would have improved with one more minute in the deep fryer. Schnitzel was dry and way too thick. Sweet potato fries were soggy. The worst part of the meal was that the sweet potato fries and the chips on my husband's plate with the schnitzel were so salty, we could barely eat them. We had to keep shaking them to try and release some of the salt. Food was a bit expensive for basic pub meals. Was going to order a mini pavlova but at $12, not worth it. Staff were friendly, wait staff a little inexperienced. Smell of the frying oil wafted through the building which was unpleasant. Exhaust fans in the kitchen? Venue is not very disability friendly... lots of trip hazards with little steps and rough surfaces. Sorry owners, I can see...
