“Hopeless @ the hope inn” My wife & I booked a table for 6:30pm, we decided to sit outside, two comfy egg chairs in a corner both covered in crumbs, I ordered our meal, no one was at the till and was able to order swiftly, I crossed to another bar where I ordered drinks, the person serving me clearly struggling to use the screen to ring up the order, she had no uniform nor i.d or rsa badge on. we ended up moving tables as there was a smokers area adjacent to our corner… under the canopy of the roof causing the smoke to drift under it. We moved to the centre of the beer garden to only be faced by three other patrons smoking in amongst other tables of people dining. It wasn’t particularly busy, less than 6 tables inside, no one eating or empty plates infront of them, 3 small tables outside occupied (including our own).. there was a couple of Uber/door dash drivers floating around waiting to collect, we had ordered a vegetarian lasagne and a mixed grill special ($28) with no entrees. We had waited 35 minutes and only saw the Uber meals serviced, I questioned the manager, and she apologised and said she would check for our order…. Soon after our enquiry a table of 4 blokes approached the counter with discussed, were handed cash back and stormed out, I questioned if that had not received their meals, and they mumbled under their breath whilst pacing out. Another 20mins later the manager had not notified us about our order, so my wife and I waited at the counter in preparation to ask for a refund to leave but there was no one in sight to be seen for sometime…. The manager came bursting out with our meals (approx 1hr after order placed) we sat down with them and she apologised and offered to pour us some drinks, I opted for a beer. Our meals were tasty, hot and cooked well however mine was not as described and was a missing the chorizo as advertised, I advised this to the manager after she asked how our meals were upon clearing our plates, she appreciated our patience and offered up a free dessert each to smooth us over, we took up the offer and said we would contact her when ready for them. We later ordered an apple crumble, and a simple sundae, we waited close to 25 minutes for our desserts and they never came. We ended up leaving, and we will never ever return! We were so disappointed and felt that there was no support for a manager that was trying her best to look after her customers, we feel that the shift was under staffed, and staffed with members who were I experienced.. we saw no more than x3 different staff members in the near on 2hrs that we were there, we would hate to see what it would be like when busy!!! Our fault for not checking reviews before choosing to dine here, but we simply took the attitude of supporting local businesses first and sadly paid the price. We hope this discourages others from eating here to avoid disappointment. Unsatisfied and let down.

NOTE. Since writing this review some changes are afoot. The $15 menu is now the Sports Bar menu, & as per my suggestion some vegetarian / vegan dishes now being added. There is also a new Menu for the indoor and outdoor restaurant area. I'm sure it will be great. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW... "$15 & one price fits all" 7 choice menu plus a classy 4 piece garlic bread for $5 and a range of sauces if needed at $3 in two very comfortable dining settings. One stylish indoor and one a beer garden style. The meals are great, the prices more than reasonable.. meals are also served in the sports bar but I haven't eaten there. A vegetarian or vegan meal/s are MISSING so far. and would be a great addition to what's on offer.. Normally quiet and sedate Wednesday nights is a little louder being Quiz Night. Honestly, THE HOPE INN as an overall experience for a pub meal, this is hard to beat. Fully licenced bar on hand and a massive car park On Port Rd going out of city Southern side, past Entertainment cente, just before the South Rd. Do yourself a favour.

The Hope Inn Bistro: Great atmosphere throughout. Nice cosy feel to the dining area with a relaxing atmosphere. Good menu selection. Fresh quality food, served at the perfect temperature and nice presentation. The food was very delicious and perfectly cooked. We ordered the Steak & Chips with Salad, Chicken Parmigiana with salad. Great portion sizes and affordable prices. The staff at The Hope Inn are friendly and professional and really make the entire experience enjoyable. Highly recommend that you have a nice meal in the Bistro. There’s also a sports bar, gaming room and a nice outdoor beer garden courtyard with heating. Definitely recommend this hotel & we will be returning customers. Thank You to the manager Darcey, + waitress Lauren & Chef Daniel, and the other lovely staff.

We went for Christmas lunch and unfortunately they seemed to be severely understaffed and underprepared. We arrived just before 12 noon and the first problem was that we had booked for 7 people and they had assigned us a 6 person table. So we had to wait for them to lay a place for an extra seat. They failed to add a bon bon though for that place, and when we asked they said there weren't any left. We had booked so they should have known the number that was coming. They absolutely packed everyone inside and it was very hot and they had the door open letting hot air in. The first half of our starter came out reasonably quickly at least so we at least had that before the long wait that was to come. It took an hour for the second half of our starter, the seafood, to be served to us. Probably about 45 mins after this the vegetables for our main meal were put on the table, but then the rest of the main meal, the meat, took over an hour to be served. They were painstakingly doing one person at a time and there were only two people serving everyone. It was 3pm by time we finally got our full main meal served. Those vegetables had been sitting there for over an hour on the table. We had two children on our table getting extremely irritated and sick of sitting still waiting, and the rest of us were too. There was a dessert still to come but at the rate they were going it would have been after 4pm by time we would have been served so we gave up and left because there was no way the children were capable of waiting any longer. We had pre-paid for it all and the price was fairly reasonable for the amount of food and the food was very nice. The dessert looked like it would have been nice but it was not worth sitting around that long for. To have to wait that amount of time is absolutely ridiculous. There was no entertainment of any kind to keep us or the children occupied during the many hours waiting. We had brought colouring books for them but hadn't expected to have to fill in such a long period of time. There was only a single disabled toilet for women to use so we had to line up and wait to use it. Men had a toilet but not the women. We definitely won't be back next Christmas and probably not at other times of year if this is the...
