Wow. Just wow. From the outside, I Am Thai Takeaway looks like the kind of place you’d walk past without a second glance—like a hidden portal to flavour disguised as a regular takeaway joint. But step inside, and suddenly, it’s as if your nose has booked a one-way ticket to Bangkok. The air is thick with the scent of sizzling spices, and before I know it, my stomach is making noises usually reserved for whales communicating across the ocean. I order the Pad Thai, and let me tell you—this isn't some sad, microwaved noodle situation. No, this masterpiece is tossed dramatically in a wok over an open flame right in front of me. I half expect the chef to take a bow afterward. When it arrives, it looks... normal. Almost suspiciously normal. But one bite in, and BOOM—flavours fireworks. Sweet, tangy, nutty, with just the right amount of heat to make me question my life choices but not regret them. And the service? Top-notch. Smiling, fast, and friendly. Honestly, how is this place not packed? Did I just uncover a top-secret Pad Thai paradise? Either way, I’m coming back—possibly with a disguise to keep this gem all to myself.

Tonight was shocking, panang beef which had barely any beef, which was sliced so thin it could’ve been mistaken for a postage stamp. The sauce was just thin watery coconut with a hint of flavor. A few sliced green beans as an after thought. It was literally 80% liquid, and not even good liquid. Massaman chicken, again watery and flavourless the chicken was nice and tender, but watered down sauce was insulting. The pad Thai was nice, but was not enough to ever want to order from here again. If what you dished up was what you think is adequate and a quality Thai dish, I suggest you close your doors now. This was insulting and I will never order from this poor excuse for a “Thai” takeaway again.

Hands down the best Thai joint in Adelaide! Don't let the takeaway vibes fool you; there are plenty of seats around. They've got it all, from classics like Pad Thai and green curry to salads and soups. Weekdays come with lunch specials too! So, for the two of us, we dove into beef salad, Prawns Pad Thai, and beef basil. The beef salad? A taste sensation – refreshing, not a tough bit of meat in sight. Total fave! Pad Thai, tasty but a tad sweet for our liking, and those noodles? Perfectly cooked. And then, beef basil with rice – nailed it. Just the right mix of fragrant basil and chili spices. Can't wait to explore more next time. Highly recommended!
