Though the food is reasonably good, the lady at the counter has some weird ideas about bookings and customer service. We were a fairly large group and so, called ahead to make reservations. We were told we are all booked in and can come at the time requested. Upon reaching we were told by the lady that, as it was a last minute booking there will be a waiting, ok no problem at all, we understand as it is a busy place.
After a short wait, when we were called in, the lady tells a member of our group that next time please book atleast a day in advance. This was followed by rude service, not even a smile for our table, whereas other customers got lovely service. While I understand that they are busy..Why accept a booking if this was a problem? I visit restaurants frequently and this the first time the business wanted the customer to be thankful for getting a booking! At the end of the meal, when we spoke to the staff the owner shooed it off as the lady being tired, trying her best under the circumstances and not to make a big deal about it. While I empathize that these are difficult times, it is not fair that paying customers have to suffer your bad mood which in turn causes us to have a bad experience. Nobody likes to eat a meal served with rude and impolite behaviour. I suggest know your limitations. Needless to say they have lost business from us and our group members...
Read moreThis restaurant is very much a hidden gemstone, doesn't look like much at first but the food is banging. Especially the bamya which is a slow cooked lamb with okra in tomato sauce. The fried cauliflower with the puffy bread is ingenious because you can break it in half and stuff the cauliflower in it. My partner highly rated the spinach soup + rice, I would highly recommend it as a winter dish as it is warming and full of spinach and garlic. The tea we had was a clove infused black tea was delicious, excellent as a palate cleanser. In addition, the customer service was exceptional! Would strongly recommend if you have never had Egyptian...
Read moreThis review is just for the Felafel Roll, it was delicious and i am so full. Lovely fresh bread and green leaves mixed in with a little bit of pickled veg (maybe?) and hommous. The felafel itself was crunchy on the outside and soft, smooth and flavoursome inside. The waitress who brought the roll to me made me feel like great care had been put into it just for me!! I enjoyed the atmosphere and people watching. Boisterous chatter came from a large group of men some were carbing up after gym. Cushions scattered on the floor everyone seemed to know each other. Very respectful,...
