We eat here 1-2x a week as my kid loves the crumbed prawn and fried chicken. They are usually good but in the last couple of weeks including today, the fried chicken was undercooked. Chicken is not like salmon that you can eat raw. I showed the staff (chinese girl with short shiny hair) and she agreed that it was raw so she was gonna bring me another plate. Btw, this girl has been rude to me before so this is not the 1st time she was being disrespectful. Another staff member brought another plate but it was still undercooked. I showed them both and I waa treated like an idiot who cannot see clearly because they both said it was cooked. I attached photos so anyone else can see what I’m talking about. I then said I’ll be happy to just have it fried again; doesn’t even have to be another serving. The rude staff took it and microwaved it. Yes, clearly microwaved because the arrangement of the chicken pieces was exactly the same. She then put it on the table and said “be careful it’s hot” and left. Did not even make sure it was cooked properly this time. No apologies whatsoever. I ended up leaving the uncooked portion on the plate and took photos. I felt discriminated against. I bet if we were Aussies she wouldn’t be so rude to us. We probably won’t be a loss but we will looking for...
Read moreI'm not particularly keen on ragging on a restaurant but this place is a classic example of "location, location, location". The quality of the sushi plates here is poor, at best. The quality of the sushi rice is low and the taste of the rice is just wrong for sushi. This is a big factor in why the final products are sub-standard. Just watching the cooks, most of whom seem under the age of twenty, it was evident they have little in the way of skills or experience, resulting in plates of poorly cut, unappealing sushi. This isn't their fault, it the fault of management who have clearly not provided anything remotely close to adequate training. The quality of the service was also unsatisfactory. I saw many people not greeted by waiting staff and some frustrated customers eventually had to walk up to chatting waitresses cleaning lids to order a drink. Pretty bad situation. The owner(s) seem to have made a conscious business decision to save money in every aspect and rely entirely on their location to see them through. Surprisingly and judging by how busy the place was the times I came, they seem to be getting away with it. Look around, there are far better sushi options...
Read moreWe are regulars at Kintaro Noarlunga, but after today’s experience we are considering in the future driving all the way into Adelaide to the sushi train.
My partner and I arrived at Colanades at 10.55am, by the time we walked up to the outside door of Kintaro it was 10.57am. The door had an open sign displayed and the door was actually open, so we walked in. We sat down and started talking. A lady sitting in one of the booths who works for Kintaro coarsely told us that they were not open yet. We were then ushered outside, we stood outside for 1 minute before we were allowed in again.
I was shocked with the treatment but my partner who is usually reserved was more upset.
The lady who told us Kintaro wasn’t open yet was actually one of the chefs. We then had to listen to her practically yelling during conversation with her colleagues whilst they prepared food.
There is a nice waitress there that is always professional and courteous. She is an asset to the Kintaro Noarlunga, but this particular lady chef is a liability.
*Edit they have turned the corner and are...
