My parents visited from overseas. Being keralites, took them to dinner but oh boy , it needs to scale up.
To begin with, on a sweltering hot day of 38 degrees, there wasn’t any cold water in a restaurant which is bizarre. The glasses weren’t clean plastic, one had a dried mound almost there for ages it seemed. With a family of 5, they could have provided an extra plate. The aircon was a Chinese make Rinnai which at 16 degrees did zilch and it became absolutely hot to sit. The washroom area is unkempt.
Loved the Uttapam and Mysore Masala Dosa but the chocolate dosa was burnt, The Dahi Vada didn’t have the right kinda vada it was just fried n crispy instead of a softer vada which is usually standard. There was no sweetness to the curd again a standard for dahi vada. The coconut chutney was average considering something that is made at home since ages, can understand.
The boss man was toiling hard so definitely he is someone I appreciate. Staff girl Divya took the feedback but can add a little humbleness we felt.
Overall the place needs a great aircon , cold water and some better food in some areas considering I spent 90$+
Thank you...
Read moreStopped by here approximately a few weeks ago as I was passing by on Grand Junction Road. It was early in the week so the restaurant was quite deserted (when driving past on the weekend the place was filled with people). There were only a few items that were available to order and it's something that I can understand as there probably isn't much of a demand early on in the week. I placed an order for the Kerala Mixed Veg Korma and the Malabar Chicken, as takeaway. The dishes were prepared and ready for pickup quite quickly. The portions were quite generous and the prices very reasonable. As for the taste, it was perfect! I did request for the dishes to be given an extra dose of🌶 and even though they weren't as 🔥 as I might have preferred, I was happy!
The seating area of the restaurant is quite spacious and there are a few tables outside as well. Parking is along Grand Junction Road.
Would like to visit again so I can try out the Masala Dosa and the other South Indian...
Read moreOh man what's up with these recent reviews? Seems like it's just spam to alter ratings since they've all been posted at the same time. Sus much?
I've personally been a regular for the last year and the staff and owner are quite friendly and willing to listen to their customer's constructive feedback to best suit their dining experience. With the new expansion and redesign to their kitchen and dining experience, Madras Kitchen is continuously evolving and developing upwards and positively each time I walk in. Went last night with my wife and some friends, definitely without a doubt, having another dinner with another group of friends later this month. Might have to book a few tables in advance because last night it was packed with diners till 1030pm!
5/5 hands down, and now that they're open for lunch too, I don't have to wait till the end of the day to taste more of their menu!
But seriously..what's up with these...
