Just had dinner with wife at Nest in Walkerville. We ordered Roast Pumkin Pizza and Fish & Chips. Fish and Chips is ok apart from the batter is bit soggy. However, when we had the pizza, we found that there is no pine nuts on the pizza. It was on the menu, so I called a waiting staff to ask about my concern. He said "I'm serving others" then ran away. I thought he may be able to ask other staff to help me, but he didn't. Few minutes later, he came back to our table and ask why. I talked him about the problem, and he went the bar. About 5 minutes later, he came back and then told me "the cook who made the pizza made a mistake he didn't put pine nuts on it I'm sorry for that" That was it. I feel like 'WHAT?' I didn't expect they make another pizza or refund my money because we already ate more than half of the whole pizza. (As you know pine nuts are hard to be seen when its sitting under the forest of rocket) However, I expect that at least the manager or the cook who made the mistake came out to our table and do formal appology to us especially my wife. Well.. I know that Nest is just a cafe bistro, not a fine dine restaurant, that maybe the reason why they treated their mistake so simple and easy (just say sorry). However, if you think you are going to this place, do not expect high quality customer service as you may get from others especially in this area (remember Walkerville is quite well known wealthy town in Adelaide metro area, and there are few great places well managed and provides excellent customer service.) On the other hand, to tell about their food, the menu seems like they copy from fine dine restaurant menus, but I'm sure that they couldn't be able to copy the taste of fine dine restaurant food. I have had same pizza at 40's pizza in Angaston (multi awards winner of pizza), and the taste of the pizza is way so much better...
Read moreFather's day, 10:30am, walk-in with my daughter grab a table and go to order a coffee and hot chocolate, asked by the old guy behind the counter (taken to be the owner) if we could sit on the high tables by the windows, advised him we had already found a table and were seated, he peers over the counter at where we are sitting and asks are we having lunch (still 10:30am), no was the reply just coffee and hot chocolate. Sorry, was the comeback, that table is booked. Obviously it wasn't (no reserved sign) and it was more than apparent he was lying. I can understand it might be a big day for business and you want to maximise takings so you don't want drinkers taking up space that can be used by eaters but I can't handle blatant lying. What was really disarming was the ease by which he lied, it just seemed to come naturally to him,. With a personality like that god knows how the rest of the business is managed, especially food hygiene!
We have been to this place before around the same time and the place is nearly empty, so this guy can't really afford to pick and choose his customer base. Thankfully we can choose our coffee shop,...
Read moreRude! We were quite in shock this evening with our experience and won’t ever be returning. I bought a drink upon arrival and had planned to bring desert home for my partner and myself after a quick 30 minute meeting between 3 people. However, the owner came over to my table after 10 minutes, stood over me and abused me for not spending enough money. I apologised and ordered a piece of cake immediately, but he continued to be verbally aggressive so we got up and left despite the fact I had purchased a drink that I was still drinking.
Not only did he lose the sale of the cake I requested, the deserts I had already planned to purchase after the meeting, and I regularly get coffees there when I go for my monthly hair appointment; I’ll certainly never be returning nor bringing future customers in either. While I can’t force every client to want to eat food, a vast majority do… and when they don’t, as outlined above, I ALWAYS buy some extra items to take home. But I guess this business wanted one more vacant table to add to their collection. Very odd hill to die on for a...
