Not enough staff. We came in and were told to sit down for table service. We asked if we could do the wine tasting while we were waiting. Our waiter said that they were too busy to do any tastings. We were the only ones on the entire inside of the restaurant, with some tables full outside. On a nice weather day you wouldn't expect anything else. There was a woman standing behind the wine counter and serving people so we thought we could pop up for a couple samples. We got there and the waiter came in and scolded her for serving wines. He said that he had already said no wine tastings. She apologized and looked embarrassed and stopped serving everyone at the counter. She remained behind the counter and he had her making coffees instead. Additional people came in afterwards and asked for wine tastings. She told them that she couldn't serve them wine for a while. We were warmly greeted by Belle who was charming pretty and very helpful. After a great meal she advised that we drive to Sellicks beach ( you can drive your car onto it) and have lunch at Voctory Hotel above the beach. Both great recommendations. Coming back and being able to rest in our garden ( we had bought sun loungers and umbrella and left them in the car on our trip) was fabulous. My husband found a trail behind the house that led him straight to Coles in the Main Street and returned with prawns for a yummy home cooked dinner. ||We loved Daringa House, we loved McLaren Vale and if ever back in the region we would stay in a heartbeat, ||Far better experience than The Vineyard, Retreat where we...
