Mind Blowing!! That's the first 2 words that come to mind when people ask me about Hey Juj.
We went for a brunch and walked in to see it pretty busy. We were greeted by some of the absolute BEST customer service we have seen in any cafe or restaurant in a very long time! it felt more like you'd walked into your friend's house and they hadn't seen you in months.
Initially we grabbed a table inside but our waitress (I think her name was Brianna but I could be wrong) grabbed us and asked if we'd like to move to the back deck in the sun and where it was less crowded. The back area is really well done. Great seating with both tables and wine barrel style seating, large umbrellas and just an overall really nice vibe.
I asked the waitress the correct way to pronounce the name (something i'm sure she's been asked 1000 times in just that day) but she took the time to explain not just how to say it but the reason behind it and you felt like even thou they were flat out busy the staff could have sat, had a chat, a drink and made sure you were comfortable.
We ordered expecting there to be a fair bit of a wait due to all the other people inside but were blown away by how quickly drinks and then meals came out and how awesome did the food look! We got a juice and ice coffee for the drinks both were great in size and very tasty. For meals first and foremost, Hats off to the chefs!! We tried their chicken burger and fish tacos. This is where the place really stood out! the food was not just delicious but it's different to your usual cafe food. it's light, doesn't have a heavy greasy feel, it's got super fresh ingredients and It's got a great variety on the menu. The portion sizes are perfect! and the prices are surprisingly great too! It's so easy for new 'trendy' cafes to have large prices on a plate that comes with 3 things on it but these guys have taken the best of all worlds. Good price for a good size meal that tastes better than it sounds!
If you haven't been here yet, get down and check it out. This is good old fashioned customer focused service, combined with artist's in the kitchen that have picked a menu that no one else is doing in Mclaren Vale. Not only do I promise you won't be disappointed, but you'll find about 8 things on the menu that you want to try so you have reasons to come back again and...
Read moreWe recently went for dinner with friends on a Friday night. The restaurant was buzzing and the dinner menu looked enticing. The wait staff were lovely and very attentive. My partner chose the lamb main and I chose the mushroom risotto main. Others on our table chose the prosciutto-wrapped chicken main. All our mains took a good hour or more to arrive at the table which was a bit too long, however we were more than disappointed with what followed. The flavours were all there in the dishes but unfortunately, all our meals, both meat and vegetables, were pretty much stone-cold. It seems the kitchen was either struggling with service or it's not equipped to keep meals warm during service. When you're paying high 30's for a main course, it was a pity that this marred the eating experience for us. It's the first time trying this restaurant for us and we were looking forward to supporting another local hospitality venture, but regrettably we couldn't recommend the Friday night dinner experience based on what we were offered. It's just not pleasant...
Read moreHey Elliott, you need to find a new job or a new attitude! Zero customer service from you today!! Ordered 2 breakfast Sandos and coffee, $55. Coffees were ok but sandwiches were cold and when we asked if they were fresh you snatched them off us and said they were. If they were fresh. why was every item of the sandwich other than the egg cold and soggy toast? When the replacements were delivered by you they had been thrown together, messy and then slammed on the table without a hint of apology. Needless to say we did not eat the entire sandwich, not due to size but below par taste and presentation. It looks like you can manage a dinner service from your reviews so perhaps stick with that. After a lovely weekend in McLaren Vale your business was the worst in every aspect...
