After making an online booking for my girlfriend and myself for dinner last night, and highlighting within the details of the booking that I had purchased a voucher from the Groupon website for a banquet, I arrived at the restaurant. There was no one at the counter and was waiting for at least five minutes. I ended up calling out to the kitchen for the staff's attention, and a gentleman poked let me know "he'll be with me in a minute". Shortly after, a lady came to the counter. I advised of my booking and intention to use the Groupon voucher. She said quite abrubtly that they don't honour Groupon vouchers. No apology was offered and also did not acknowledge my booking, which I found very poor. She said I'd need to apply for a refund through Groupon, which I have done, on my whole experience last night, this showed this establishment was extremely poorly and unprofessionally run. Rude staff indicates a very poorly run restaurant too. And it is there responsibility to advise Groupon immediately if they no longer honour these vouchers so they can be removed from Groupon (which indicates that they can be used until the end of the year, and I can apparently purchase this same voucher from Groupon another 9 times!!!!).
To the owners and staff of this restaurant, you need to have a look at how to run a professional and inviting place, as yours is...
Read moreIt was difficult to give this place a full 5 star review, as the decor is old, it's not kid friendly and the service is slow (50 min from "seating to eating"). However if, like us, you ignore the lack of ambience, peeling paint, paper tablecloths, dated picture frames and dilapidated building the MEAL WAS DELICIOUS, generous and well priced. The 5 stars is for the actual meal, not the entire dining experience, which would be 4 stars - at best.
You will find all the traditional flavours (korma, tandoori, vindaloo, etc) and entrees, mains and desserts with a limited selection of drinks. The wait-staff are friendly and helpful (although slow or inefficient). Three of us were filled to the brim with 2 dishes, large rice and 2 naan. With 2 drinks and nuggets and chips, for the non-indian-eater (small child), the bill came to ~$60 - well within our dining budget. Limited kids menu (nuggets or fish with chips) and nothing to distract them during the wait for their meal (we often ask that the kid's meals are served before the adults, but did not on this occasion - big mistake).
They do offer takeaway, however seeing the wait time of customers picking up their orders, I would add 15 minutes to any time they suggest the meal will be ready by. Same goes for menulog orders. Limited parking outside, but plenty just down the road or at the...
Read moreRoyal India is an intimate and cozy restaurant which seats plenty and has an extensive menu for Indian food items. The service is extremely good, with the best servers who are polite and efficient.
Each time we go, we always order the different assortments of meat; lamb, chicken, and much more. Each dish is seasoned with it's own spices and herbs which comes out smelling savory and appetizing, unlike other places that use the same seasoning for all dishes.
It’s hard to say what are my favourites. The non veg dishes are seasoned with a spicy seasoning and done just right, with the skin a bit crispy and the meat juicy which makes for a heavenly delight. The chicken dishes are also very delectable and mouthwatering. All the flavor is kept in while grilling and goes well with a drink. Not to miss all the deserts which have added to the extra kilos I carry today. Lol ....
I have had the best experience catering with them . All my parties are a success with the team working so effectively towards cooking such authentic food and catering to the best hospitality. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to similar places...
