Sometimes you get a yiros craving so strong it feels like destiny. The problem is… a lot of yiros joints are a gamble. Maybe the meat tastes “off,” maybe the veg looks like it’s been sitting there since the last Fringe festival, or maybe the cheese tastes exactly like the smell of a wet sponge (and yes, that’s as bad as it sounds).

So when that craving hit, I braced myself for disappointment, opened Uber Eats, and thought: “At least this place has good reviews - worst case, it’ll be not gross.”

Reader, I was wrong. It wasn’t “not gross.” It was divine. I’m talking 'bite into it and suddenly wonder if Demeter herself has descended from Olympus to personally bless this pita' divine. The garlic, the salt, the perfect balance - it’s not just food, it’s a religious experience.

Not recommended; Terrible value for money. I paid $22 for a LARGE lamb salad and chips plate, which came with a small handful of soggy chips which were not freshly cooked, but rather retrieved from a warming drawer, a pitiful child's handful of meat and a small portion of lettuce and onion - tomato was not included as mentioned by the owner and greek salad/tabouli was an additional cost. Worst value for money from any yiros place, where I have been a customer. For contrast, another customer purchased a large AB which came in a larger container had more meat, more chips (but no salad) - this was a cheaper and better option. I have never had yiros takeout before but I decided to give this spot my first try, since then no other places have lived up to the bar this shop has set for me. The lovely service you receive here feels like your waiting for your mum to make you food, getting to walk in to such a lovely atmosphere is something that me and my friends look forward to whenever we decided to treat ourselves to a yiros!
