I will rarely write a poor review for a resturant but under these circumstances I feel obliged to.
We came as a group of 6 and ordered the banquet. We had no issues with the food however the service was so rude that we felt uncomfortable and left before finishing our dining.
The experience:
As a group we had all had 3-4 drinks prior to arrival however it was implied that we were intoxicated and we should all make sure that we drink water (although we had ordered a total of 2 bottles of wine between 6 people, not a significant amount). This initial statement was quite condescending and was embarassing for those at our table and was discussed as such between members of the group. There was a further comment from serving staff stating that our group had been going to the toilet a lot (a bizarre observation to say the least). We discussed with serving staff that we felt it was being implied that we were using the toilets for drug use, which we found extremely offensive. A background on this situation being that I myself work in emergency psychiatry, 4 others in the group work in a health care capacity, one of whom works in child protection, and the final member of our group who is an engineer in the mining industry. Post this comment we felt uncomfortable as a group and left the restaurant due to the rude way we had been treated. We made it known that this was why we were leaving, paid our bill in full and left.
There was an email sent to the individual who made the booking offering a "sort of apology" with a voucher for $40 due to the experience (we spent over $300). There were claims that our group had been slamming doors and had been standing up eating. After discussion with the group we were unsure about the claims of door slamming (if there was a circumstance a door was slammed it surely would have been accidental). With regards to the claims we were standing and eating I can confirm my partner and I picked up some food with a fork as we were standing to leave the resturant (due to the poor behaviour towards us) as we were still hungry however, throughout the meal there was no standing and eating.
Considering the experience we would not feel comfortable to return (something we are sure they would be aware of) and $40 credit was not an acceptable resolution. Under these circumstances I would have expected a full refund or at least 50% refund for the total spend would have been appropriate. I have never had an experience in my life where staff made a group uncomfortable enough they they decide to leave before finishing their...
Read moreI thought it was very average. If you like a view of the shopping centre carpark, maybe? If you like all the - wear a mask while you are up & take it off when you sit - rigmarole then your in luck! Masks and QR code check-ins were more important to the waitress (owner?) than our order. She completely missed my mother's order - what just didnt hear it? and didn't think to question if the two of us wanted two meals??? I was finished before mum was served. There was no effort to make it up to us. No offer to keep mine hot while they made mums, no little thing to keep her or I busy while we each waited. I'd say to the owners that a spring roll or two goes a long way when YOU stuff up! The gin cocktail was sickly sweet with way too much elderflower cordial, however, the famed schallot pancakes were delicious. I am now paying for them with an insatiable thirst - glad I'm not allergic to MSG 😅 Asian fusion might be fun if you don't have a lot of experience with Thai & Vietnamese cuisine but if you know how things - like a green curry are supposed to taste, then the sweet, dumbed down version where you can just tell no fresh galangal root was grated in the kitchen - will only be a disappointment. You can...
Read moreWow just wow!!! My husband and I were blown away by every single dish we had. We had 3 Entrees the cheese burger spring rolls, salt n pepper squid and prawn dumplings. Mains were chicken hokkien noodles and braised beef cheeks. The squid was so tender and perfectly battered not oily at all 10/10 The spring rolls even tasted like hamburger! I’m not one of spring rolls but these were delicious. The prawn dumplings were full of prawn no other fillers and came in a choo chee style of sauce. Absolutely delightful. The mains were equally as incredible. The hokkien noodles were perfectly cooked, chicken and vegetables so tender. The sauce wasn’t too salty like I’ve experienced before at other restaurants. It was just right. The beef cheek just melted in your mouth. The sauce it came in was also perfect not to salty or rich. You could literally drink it. I can’t believe this is our 1st time here! We will be the new regulars of...
