Dan, since you’ve chosen to publicly misrepresent what happened, I feel it’s only fair to respond with additional context.
Your approach to our table was not “considerate and friendly” — it was defensive, abrupt, and bordering on aggressive. To the point we had to ask you to stop and asked you if you came over to talk to use or have a go at us.
The wine bottle and untouched glasses remained on the table the entire time — we even pointed them out to you when you came over.
You asked why we didn’t come straight to you, claiming you could’ve returned the wine to the winemaker at no cost. We explained we didn’t know who you were — you were in plain clothes, unidentifiable as staff or the owner.
We told you we raised the issue with Kris, who was rude and dismissive. When we tried to order another wine we did enjoy — at the same time we gave feedback about the first bottle — Kris claimed it was sold out. That clearly wasn’t true, as others at our table had no issue ordering multiple bottles of it shortly after.
One of your staff returned multiple times to collect empty glasses, and we told her every time to take the full glasses and the bottle because we weren’t drinking it because it tasted bad. She never acknowledge those comments and left them there. Again, we told you this.
You told us that getting good staff was hard and you know you have a problem with customer service.
You had an opportunity to address the situation professionally. Instead, you launched into an aggressive, angry speech about how damaging a 1-star review is to your business — without once acknowledging that anything about our experience might have been valid. That’s not customer service. That’s deflection.
Let’s be clear: • We didn’t ask for a refund, • We didn’t “finish half the item then ask to swap it out or a refund because of your personal preference” – Rather we declined your offer to swap it out when the offer finally came as we’d moved on. Again, mentioned on the night. • Six adults took one sip and left the wine untouched because it clearly wasn’t right. • My meek 70+ mother raised it politely and were treated with hostility. • Your claim that our feedback is based on “personal preference” is dishonest — just like Kris saying a wine was sold out when it wasn’t. • I never agreed to take the review down. • No the conversation you had with us post reading the review and accosting us at our table did not end well.
Furthermore, I’ll be encouraging others who were there on the night to share their experiences — several had equally strong things to say about the service.
Having read your recent responses to other poor reviews, the lack of customer service understanding, and aggression is prevalent.
If you don’t want poor reviews, focus on delivering better service — not rewriting the facts in public replies.
Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Undrinkable Wine
We booked a table for six at The Joiners Arms for dinner before the Kylie concert, but our experience was extremely disappointing. The first bottle of wine we ordered was absolutely horrible – it tasted off. All six of us took one sip and unanimously agreed something was wrong with it.
When we politely returned the bottle and tried to explain the issue, the tall man in a black shirt behind the bar (Kris) was incredibly rude and dismissive. He literally said, "It was fine when it went out, not my problem". He said this to my husband and my 70 year old mum. This wasn’t a group of young kids trying to score a free drink – we had just arrived, and this was our first attempt at ordering drinks for the evening. The bottle sat untouched after that initial sip, yet we were treated poorly.
Overall, the service was appalling, the staff were rude, and the wine was undrinkable. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time or money here especially before an event at the...

Read moreI am unsure if this is a regular thing as the one other time we have eaten here the meals have been great and service was pretty good. However last night we went before watching family performed for CANDANCE for a cure and we were left frustrated and disappointed. When we arrived we saw that it was packed, fair enough there was a function at the joiners and also at the entertainment centre and sport at the oval. Busy night. However, when we ordered we were told it would be a 45 minute wait for food, we should have not worried. Because over an hour later we still did not have any food. This caused a significant amount of stress as we had a function to get to. We ended up having to get takeaway. Yes we were apologised to which was lovely, however, some sort of compensation would have been nice. We were lucky that the entertainment centre allowed us to take our food in. And because of the nature of the food being now takeaway betime we ate it was cold and mediocre. If you have a function and a sold out dinner service. Either cap your numbers or hire more staff for the night. Very disappointed. And we were not the only ones having to get takeaway because the wait...
