One star for the atmosphere in the outsidr dining area. The meals and service were lacking.
After ordering our meals, the wait staff let us know they didn't have what mum ordered. My mum can't eat certain foods and is vegetarian. So, she opted for the mushroom burger without the bun instead as she has difficulty eating breads. The waiter confirmed this with the chef, no problem.
Some time passes and a waitress comes out to ask for mum's dietary requirements as they'd forgotten. Mum repeats them, and tells her that she had instead ordered a bunless mushroom burger, and the waitress said she would check to see if the chef could do it, and off she went.
We were confused at this point, but okay. The waitress returns after a few minutes to say that the chef didn't want to prepare it, as it would be 'too bland'. She explained that the other waiter was "new and didn't know they wouldn't be able to accommodate" mum's request. With no other suitable vegetarian options, mum had her money refunded instead and didn't have dinner.
Service was pretty poor honestly. The meals were brought out, but we had no cutlery for 5-10 minutes after meals arrived. I ordered a burger without onion. It came with onion. They took it back to remake, after 15 minutes and no food, we cancelled my meal as well and got a refund. The staff didn't display much concern about customer service (except the 'new' waiter, he was...
Read moresorry, but for me service counts the most to have a fun and good party night or bar night. so i am sorry for the boss, the cook and the other service people to write this now but it was really unbelievable: one person in service was very arrogant and misogynist (his devastating behavior was just observed in combination with several female guests). just performing as everybodys 'adorable' surferboy (white dude). it seemed as he just did the things which could make him look superior: chatting and flirting with chosen guests (letting other guests wait for minutes at the counter) hesitating to help carry a tablet for a guest. just standing behind the bar and talking to the bartenders (nonjob talks) and letting guests wait extra long. at the end he just threw out some female guests because we were too drunk in his opinion...(we did not have any alcohol on this evening. but how could he know.. he never served us...)
the rest of the service team was really nice, but unfortunately we mostly ran...
Read moreStaff are nice enough but not exactly on the ball.
Tables took forever to be cleaned, we wandered around trying to find a wiped down one and this was on a Tuesday afternoon. Pandemic or no, no one wants to sit at a table full of the last punters' spillage.
Bartender made an assumption that we wanted cider because we were looking at the taps but weren't lads (their cider 'selection' consisted of tap Mercury and bottled Hills... so, no thanks).
Ordered beers, cant complain about that part. Friend paid so can't comment on prices.
Beer garden seemed nice when we went through, and what I could see of upstairs. There's a little side section that seems to be more of a cafe type situation but no signage that I could see of when that was operating. The staff behind that area made active attempts to avoid making eye contact while I was looking at the drink/snack menu there, so...
Decor and vibe definitely a step up from Worlds End, but I think the staff are what's letting...
