A Japanese Izakaya located in North Adelaide. It feels like a chilled Japanese bbq skewers Eatery and bar. The food is ok. I would say very average, which I have no problem with. The price here is about $100 per person with a few skewers and drinks. We ordered 2 rounds, after the first round. We found that the dishes' sizes are very small, and some of them were also a bit dry. Therefore we have to order another round of food and drinks. However, it still seems not enough. We may order more. But, we did not bother to order more, as the food is not worth another wait. This place is clearly overpriced. We have no problem with the price, we do not mind if it is even more, as long as the food and experience are worth. To be fair, there is nothing wrong with this place. The only thing is the mismatch between their price and what they can deliver. The rating is for this strong mismatch. It is not just about 25 to 50% overpriced. In our experience there, it feels like at least 100% overpriced for the food and environment. I am not sure how many other customers have a similar feeling but did not mention it. There are few other reviews with a similar idea. However, the owner always just fights back and says all the customers know nothing about yakitori izakaya............ Although some are very experienced reviewers and have been to many restaurants. I think it is time for them to also start listening to the feedback instead of just fighting back to every non 5 stars reviews. Think about how to improve, so it is worth your price. Presentation, ingredients, cooking method.......there are so many things that can be improved. Instead of simply believing in yourself and everyone else who thinks it is not worth is...
Read moreMy husband and I have been coming to Yakitori Takumi since it opened in 2004. In that time we have seen Andrew introduce Adelaide to the wonderful world of Yakitori and then hand the mantle over to the effervescent Eddie, who has continued to help the restaurant grow in leaps and bounds, whilst still retaining the intimate atmosphere and ensuring the food is of the highest calibre. With Yakitori, there is nowhere to hide, the ingredients must be outstanding and treated with respect. Every dish is a work of art and whilst some other reviews have claimed that photos are not allowed, we have never experienced anyone stopping people from taking them.
They do BYO wine, which is great if you're on a budget, as the biggest expense is the drinks - especially when you start diving into the fabulous Sake menu.
This place is my favourite restaurant in Adelaide and whilst I have seen some dishes reduce in size over the last 11 years (e.g. The Tori Kara which used to be a mountain and is now more of a mole hill), I've also seen some fabulous new dishes hit the menu and become firm favourites.
I cannot recommend Yakitori Takumi highly enough if you're looking for great food, great Sake and a relaxed, friendly, unpretentious...
Read moreDiner for 3, serving size ridiculously small and grossly over priced, you are not a 5 star restaurant but an average Japanese themed eatery in North Adelaide. Decorations inside the eatery so so, food quality ok but need magnifying glass to see it on plate! Value for money, absolutely not, to say we were bitterly disappointed is understatement and to see the final bill for the multiple dishes we ordered that all could have fitted on 1 average diner plate was just wow are you joking. Never again would be visit this place! Anyone leaving slightest negative reviews below seem to anger the owner, so I wait with great anticipation for reply! Also, the staff are very energetic encouraging you to try this and that to build up the bill, could this be commission/bonus driven. Why Wong you need say "I not a friend of the restaurant to make this review"? This is a review anyone entitled to make, you don't make arrogant comment the person is...
