Okay hear me out, I am a pretty easy to please person but boy was this place disappointing. I'm from Melbourne so I've been to some actual good places and I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what makes a place good or at least value for money. This is not one of them. I reserved a table but when we arrived we were sharing a big table with another group which was the first blow. We then ordered food and drinks for 3 people. The drinks arrived in a reasonable timeframe but the matcha was average. If you're a matcha drinker you can taste the difference and this was just cheap culinary matcha. We then had to wait for 40 minutes for our food and when I went to ask at the counter what was taking so long, instead of offering to go check for me, the girl just said "We have been busy" extremely rude and inattentive. The food then arrived and while the mushroom sando was good, it was definitely nothing special- as you can see in the picture, it is just plain toasted bread with some cheese and mushroom inside. The hot honey french toast was a JOKE. just 2 slices of bread with a measly piece of chicken inside and some honey drizzled on top (you can't even see the chicken in the picture) and it was $26. The pandan french toast was all looks and no taste. Definitely does not taste like pandan. Whipped cream with green food colouring DOES NOT mean pandan. The cream was spread very stingily around the bowl to essentially fill the place but there was so little. It was the same sad bread decorated with a mushy banana and lots of flowers. But we paid $26 for bread, flowers and green cream. The people who rate this place highly just have not tried good places or just have sad palates. Trust me, save your money. If you want an actual good place, try butter and toast next door. We are not coming back and i will be dissuading everyone I know from coming here.

First time trying Heat Cafe and had a relatively positive experience. We ordered the chilli scramble and chicken sandwich, which were both tasty and satiating. However, the chicken’s portion size was quite small, and it felt like there was an imbalance of chicken to pickle ratio. For $18, I think a thicker chicken cutlet could’ve been used as it’s quite expensive for a sandwich. We had high hopes for the matcha specialty drinks - my banana + matcha drink was really tasty with a unique flavour profile which worked well. However, the Samantha was reported to be a bit of a let down in terms of flavour. The consistency and presentation were both fantastic though. Service were all friendly and relatively fast, and atmosphere of the cafe was cosy and aesthetic. Overall, a nice brunch location on Melbourne St and would recommend their food. A bit more on the pricey end, but an overall nice experience 😊

An overall disappointing experience. We arrived for our reservation on time; however, our table wasn’t ready. We were happy to wait, but our group of five was eventually squeezed on a singular round table outside. One of our group had to ask to have an additional table added. A vegan member of our group was given a drink that the waitstaff misidentified, which resulted in him consuming cows milk. Some free drink vouchers were provided for our next visit. Overall, an expensive brunch for average quality. My partner and I paid $91 for the two of us - an omelette, big breakfast, a coffee each, and a juice to share. The coffee was the biggest letdown. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend. There are many other places with better coffee, better food, and better value for money.

Had to wait 10 minutes for coffees and probably 20 for food, and it wasn't exactly worth the wait. The pumpkin was good, albeit a small portion, and the granola bowl a small portion too, and a bit of a joke. It says there's yoghurt in it, but I dug in the granola to find no trace of yoghurt, apart from an ultra thin layer of it spread on the side of the plate for the aesthetics. It looked good, but when I have brekkie, I don't want an Instagrammable dish, I just want to make sure it will take me to lunch without feeling hungry. If you love chewing on dry granola for 16$, go for it, but I personally asked for a yoghurt top-up. They were generous enough to add one spoon (woo!) of it, although the waitress couldn't really hide she was annoyed by my request.

She also didn't remove the dirty plates, glasses and mugs from the previous customers when she took our order, we had to ask her. However she was really prompt to remove our own plates as soon as we were done and kick us out. She asked us twice in two minutes if we wanted to order something else, and as we declined, told us we had to leave because they had a booking in five minutes. Other customers around us seemed to be given all the time they wanted though. The perfect ending to a bad...

This café has quietly become one of my favourite places in Adelaide.

What sets it apart isn’t just the incredible coffee and matcha (though they are exceptional), but the feeling of walking into a space where you're remembered and welcomed. The owner and team take the time to know you—not just your name, but who you are. It’s rare, and it makes a difference.

We’ve started using this spot for our business meetings because it strikes the perfect balance: relaxed but elevated, calm but never boring. The matcha is next-level—ceremonial grade, traditional, organic, and single origin. If you know matcha, you’ll taste the quality immediately.

The food is seasonal, local, and beautifully done—sourced straight from Adelaide growers. It’s the kind of menu that makes you feel good about what you’re eating, both in taste and in values.

As a small business owner myself, I know how much effort it takes to do things properly. And this café does everything properly. No corners cut. No compromises. Just thoughtful, intentional choices that create a better experience for every customer.

Highly recommend to anyone who values quality, community, and a genuinely great...
