The most uncomfortable night I've ever had. The service, terrible. I had made it clear right off the bat that I wanted parking with my booking, because I have an ailment which affects my mobility and a disabled parking tag. I didn't get one, instead I was told that parking was more like a lottery. If it's available at one of their properties they'll put you in it. If not, tough. So I don't get parking reserved, instead I rock up after a long and tiring 6 hour drive, to find the parking I am placed in, is 100m or more away from where they made me stay, and the only access was up and down a horrendously steep ramp, completely inaccessible to wheelchair and I struggled myself. When I made my booking, through a popular 3rd party site there was no mention of a $50 deposit, and in all the initial correspondence I received after making my booking there was no mention of said deposit either. It was only until I'd arrived at the property I was told I had to pay this $50 deposit, and it would take 10 days to get back, now as a result I am stuck in Adelaide and cant afford all the fuel to get home - and looking at recent feedback it looks like people have been stung by this deposit and haven't got it back. The accommodation itself, absolutely dreadful, two horrible worn out single mattresses shoved together, which they probably scavenged from the back of a salvos or the tip. Only super thick pillows provided so I'm using the extra blanket rolled up with my jumper on it as a thin pillow. I did have a endless battle trying to get comfortable for hours, until I'd given up, got the shytz, and went to the hospital for some pain killers to help with the neck and back pain I was ensuring from said battle trying to get comfortable on the bed. Round two of trying to get comfortable with the blanket and jumper as a pillow isn't going too well either. The artwork is disturbing at the least, and I'd imagine highly offensive to some religions / beliefs. If you value honest upfront service, or if you have mobility issues, or if you happen to value a comfortable night sleep - DO NOT STAY HERE ps - round 2 in the comfort battle isn't working too well and might end up in a 2nd visit to the hospital for more pain killers. I am so angry and annoyed I wasted my money, and got robbed of half my fuel money to get home - to stay in severe discomfort. Someone is getting strangled if I can't make it home.

This was a very disappointing experience. As a former Adelaide local I had always heard good things about Minima and had stayed at other Majestic properties in Adelaide before however this one fell short. Firstly the room was very small and made to feel even smaller but the full sized mural that was unlike any of the promo photos I had seen for the rooms with others being more art elements or designs in the room. Whilst a high quality mural it was a bit much for the room. There was no room to set up the stand for luggage nor was there a bed side table on one side. It appears from the giant pile in the car park they have all been removed with no replacement sought. The room had a patio which didn't have any coverage and despite being larger than the room was useless for a winter weekend. The room was advertised as having a king pillow top bed, it was actually two smaller beds pushed together and certainly did not feel like there was a pillow top. There was however a very hard crack where the two met. The bathroom was so small it was not functional (see photo) the toilet was so close to the wall and roll holder you actually couldn't sit on this toilet straight. After booking I was advised no wifi, something I would be more understanding about if other reviews didn't indicate it's been broken for months now. Room booking also spoke of premium channels like foxtel but these were not working. The hallway had water stain markings and hard lumps that felt like concrete more than bubbled carpet, my foot could not flatten them nor could my suitcase be rolled over them. The only reason I didn't complain at the time is I didn't want any fallout/having to sort another place and I didn't pay full price as I used a booking site. Such a dissapointing experience given the previous great reputation this hotel had. Redeeming quality was the one staff member I encountered in my 5 day stay who was at another property was lovely and the car parking cost was reasonable. Different to park in however due to shape and lack of order, was hard to return to only one park left, labelled for small cars only and you NOT being a small car. I also agree that the hallways are loud. You hear everything from the rooms next door and throughout the hall. Cleaning staff were not mindful of this at all.

Only good thing about this motel is location, everything else sucked like a Hoover vacuum. So $155 (less a $20 voucher $135) for a teeny tiny room which they do advertise however it was also advertised that rooms have a terrace/balcony & foxtel. We had neither & to top if off our window looked at the carpark. Yep that’s right folks, view of a car park (and that’s it as our room was on ground floor), no foxtel, no terrace or balcony, I feel the Adelaide remand centre rooms would have been more comfortable & had more character, however I cannot account for this first hand as I have never had a room at the remand centre thankfully. Because the room had no other airflow options the air was thick & the room was stale smelling. The Aircon was on 18° and fan was on high and still could not get airflow through the room, not sure if it was working properly or it was the bar fridge that was enclosed in the cupboard that was emanating heat like a radiator that counter-acted the aircon. Either way our sleep was not restful. Another factor was the servicing of the room. When we arrived the milk was opened in the fridge which then made you question whether the room had actually been serviced or the given just a quick wipe over and the bed straightened. And I hate that because you do question what had been done inside the room or was it simply a oversee by the domestic staff but then surely the domestic staff would have reported the heat coming out from the fridge? Hmm, it makes you wonder. You also have to be flat on your back to watch TV due to the angle of the wall mounted TV. So out the front of the hotel they have a LCD sign that advertises rooms for $99 with all the trimmings, what the hell did I pay for then? And the security deposit is another bone of contention, although your told it will be returned to your account upon checkout that is simply not the case and in fact can take up to 7-14days I was told this morning. Even though the security deposit was taken via direct purchase from my account. I don’t know folks, I very rarely post bad reviews, but this was falsely advertised & just a bad exoerience all round. Think twice before booking or ask for a room inspection prior to booking as my room was non-refundable otherwise I would have asked for a refund upon entering our room.

Good stuff first! The hotel had lovely staff who were super polite and helpful. Every interaction I had with them was stellar and communication was great. I was also able to check in early because my room was ready! And on the last day I was able to keep my bags somewhere before my flight later on. The instructions about check in were easy enough to follow and the Minima isn't a long walk from the check in hotel. Everything in the hotel was as clean as it could be without maintenance performed. The staff are doing a great job with what they've got!

So: it's an affordable hotel! Which is great! This might be why: The room was SMALL. Kinda like a half sized private hospital room set up. The wardrobe only had 4 hangers and full length dresses can't be hung up. The "Queen" bed was two uncomfortable stretcher beds stuck together with very rolly wheels underneath (I kept accidentally flying across the room when I sat on the bed!). The pillows weren't fantastic. The lights weren't dimmable and they were both (there are 2 in total) very bright. There is a small balcony which is nice. The air conditioner worked! The TV didn't work at first but a lovely staff member came over and figured it out for me. I don't think this was the hotel's fault: a previous guest might have messed with it. There was noise bleeding through to my room throughout the night when there were neighbours walking through and I think someone's fan kept turning on and off throughout a couple of the nights. Bathroom: The shower area is small and the whole bathroom needs to be regrouted (I saw a bunch of suspicious looking mould within the grouting). The shower head is difficult to manoeuvre to get a steady stream and it was hard to get the perfect temperature. I wish there was a bit more bench space above the sink. The light and fan are the one button and the loud fan stays on for what seems like 5 minutes after turning it off.

The worst bit was the key card to get into my room. The first night I tried to get back into my room and tried about 15 times before calling reception. The staff member seemed to have a trick of opening it with the card but I couldn't figure it out! I tried so many different ways of easily opening my door over my stay but each time took me at least 10 times. And each time I DID get in; it felt like a fluke! The locks absolutely need to be replaced or repaired so that people can access their rooms with one tap. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had accessibility issues. I definitely felt quite safe because I don't think anyone else could figure out how to open the door even if they tried!

Even with saying all that, I would return if I need to stay for cheap in Adelaide again. I don't hold it against any of the staff, I just think maintenance needs to be performed by the owners and upgrading some important stuff needs to be done to make it a more pleasant experience. I think a 3 - 3.5 star stay is what we're dealing with! I hope the owners of the hotel can take what I've written here...
