This definitely isn’t a high-end hotel room. What you get is a small apartment that feels like someone’s grandma used to live in ( albeit a trendy nanna). The website states the kitchens are modern, which some of the finishing were, but the appliances where left over from ‘grandma’. If they replaced the old, dirty and dated, curtains the place probably wouldn’t feel a little more modern. Don’t get me wrong, the apartment was perfect for what we needed as we were hardly there. The bed was comfortable and they provided a cot for my daughter (toddler). The courtyard was pretty, and the access to good restaurants and shops can’t be beat. There’s a fine dining restaurant next door with a pub next to that. They must use the same kitchen because the pub meals were delicious and well presented.

The Good on-site, underground, parking was included free wi-fi (although we never did get into it, as the placard on the wall said call reception. A card, or slip of paper, from reception on check-in with the wi-fi details would be handy. I’ll blame it on me being lazy and not calling reception) comfortable bed full kitchen washer and dryer located in quaint older building it’s in North Adelaide close to amenities and a short distance to popular tourist sites (Adelaide Zoo) helpfully on-site reception

The Not As Good dated appliances and curtains

The only reason this is a 3 is mainly due to good customer service and location. The downside is maintenance and the cleaners could take some more time with a little bit more tlc. Just from a quick look of the room I’m sure you can put an extra $100 for maintenance of the rooms as this will go a long way. From cracked tiles, missing grout, washes needing to be replaced, freyed blinds, door knobs falling off and a oven been dodgy, this should be an easy fix with a bit of pride, especially the price you pay for the facilities this little extra step would make a world of difference.|Cleaners could take a bit more pride in their work too. I observed numerous times having breaks, stopping for lengthy talks and from the quality of the cleanliness of my room as well as not cleaning it when ment to they could have done a better job and we had issues with ants in the bathroom from the beginning. Also to top it off they forgot to clean our room too after their no service Sunday. |Another issue was the possum poo. For such an amazing view and atmosphere to be ruined by possum poo everywhere just a little suggestion maybe a little sweep or hose first thing in the morning?|This may seem small but for the location and wanting that luxury experience I can say this was...

Lovely little room but level of customer service is shocking!! When we arrived they told us that there is a surcharge on the payment via debit card, even though no one told us that at booking (yes I read the whole email and T&C’s) and there was a great big sign saying there was a 1.5% surcharge on CREDIT card transactions. Good way to make some cash on the side me thinks.

Anyway, we think we left something in the room and called back a few hours later. We asked them to check the room and we received a call back to say they’d checked but not there. The girl didn’t sound like she understood what I was explaining we thought had been left. So I called back and spoke to someone else. I wasn’t rude, I simply said I felt as though the girl I had spoken to didn’t understand exactly what I was asking - well, this woman got very stroppy and got on the defensive telling me that she trusts her staff and she heard the phone call. I wasn’t accusing anyone of anything, simply asking someone to double check again as the item was valuable.

Nice room but definitely wouldn’t stay here again. Also the service we received in the Lion hotel restaurant was less than average too. Seems the group need to think about a change of staff with better...

An excellent accommodation for a stay in central Adelaide. Conveniently on the CBD loop bus route that passes the Botanic Gardens and the Rundle mall. Also only e30 minutes by bus from the airport. Loved the distinctive separate tower (or ward) set up. You missed an opportunity to put me up in the Mills ward! The 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable. The kitchenette well equipped and the dining and lounge seating options excellent. The beds were very comfortable. Good to see the laundry set up in the bathroom for those longer stays. Only issues were one of the remote controls for the TVs had flat batteries and a baby spider tried to share the bed, probably falling from the cobwebs above. Staff were more than competent and communication from the venue prior to arrival was perfect. The underneath parking garage had only one door operating during our visit which could have been unfortunate if guests were entering and leaving at the same time because sight lines were not good. All in all would definitely stay again and stay for longer.

Majestic Old Lion Apartment in North Adelaide is a fantastic place to stay, especially if you enjoy being near the vibrant Melbourne Street with its plethora of dining options. The new area boasts a range of restaurants, ensuring you’re never far from a great meal. The reception staff are both efficient and friendly, making check-in a breeze. Housekeeping does a commendable job, ensuring the bed is tidy and tea and coffee are replenished, although they do not clean the floor or kitchen. The two-bedroom apartment offers ample space, featuring a large living room and a well-equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, and all necessary utensils. Additionally, it includes a washing machine, dryer, and sink for laundry needs. The charming old building is beautifully maintained, blending classic architecture with modern amenities. The beds come with warmers, perfect for cozy winter nights. Just a heads up, there is no elevator, so be prepared for stairs. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for a comfortable and convenient stay.
