Clint Nolan/Miles Hull - What Have You Done? Having followed you from Harvest to Whose your Mama along with Pleased To Meet You and La Cholita and one of our favourite spots Sneaky Tony’s we arrived at Quarter Acre full of expectation only to be totally disappointed. Let’s start with the positives, great refurbishment of the old restaurant, huge potential with local support surrounded by people who enjoy good food and wide selection of beverages. That’s as far as the positives go! After opening this Monday, and I’m assuming far too premature as apart from staff being around they appear unprepared and unfamiliar with the hospitality industry. Monday the premises opened with a full menu, reasonably expensive for very average selection of pub grub food. Thursday early evening we we were greeted with a shortened menu, initially we were told this was due to the long weekend and then by another wait staff we were advised it was because the kitchen was struggling. When placing the order we were told it would be no longer than 30 minutes. As for the limited menu, it’s shocking, such basic selection, what I would expect to find in a real pub and even then I’ve been to established pubs where the menu is far superior. Of course if the food being served is of high quality and taste different situation. As for beer prices, pints I don’t think so, yes they charge pint prices (568 mls) for 500 mls price therefore 10% more for what? We were also advised the beers on tap are a level above Swan (even though that is on tap) and when I have just said we enjoy craft beers! Wine by the glass extremely average - tap wine (may as well be cask wine) for the price I can have by the glass of my choice in other establishments. After waiting 40 minutes and observing hardly anyone else eating we enquired where the food was. To be advised they were struggling, we asked to be speak with the duty manager. Five minutes later she appeared not overly sympathetic and said sorry yes we are having problems. We asked for a refund, in the interim whilst waiting for the refund the food turned up and looked disgusting. We turned the food away, whilst I didn’t taste it nor at this point had any desire to, the food resembled what one would consume at a fast food style place with shoestring fries, processed sliced cheese on burgers and nachos out of the pack. Oh my gosh I’m beyond words to describe our disappointment after eagerly awaiting this new addition to our entertainment precinct. All this is is a shameful, exploitation of keen and supportive local crowd. Whilst extremely regular patrons of local bars and restaurants, and live locally we will not be returning nor recommending to our circle of family...
Read moreSo I found myself walking out of the Quarter Acre and going to Bad Apples. A place I have ALWAYS had food service.
I approach the bar just as a bartender finishes serving a lady a bottle of champagne with two glasses. He then offers to walk her purchase to her table. Nice I thought. He smiled at me and said he would be back soon (he later claimed he said someone will be with you soon). So I smiled and said no worries. Well.... another customer approached the counter and the other bartender was still serving. Instead of serving me next he served the new customer. I looked over at the guy who promised I’d be served soon only too see he decided to commence clearing glasses off tables.
Annoyed I had no choice but to move down the bar next to the guy being served. Now the original bar tender who appears to be the manager asks if I am being served. I said ‘yes eventually’ and he questions what eventually meant. I then explained that while he was clearing tables the other guy at the bar served a later customer. And eventually another bar tender served me. He then laughed at me and told me I was only waiting for 2 minutes and he had glasses to clear. Rude reply I thought so I told him so. He again with a big smile on his face continued to argue his point that he never said he would come back and serve me and that I should have demanded the Other bar tender served me... apparently this is appearing to be all my fault.
Well after telling the bar tender/manager to shove his drink up his arse I grabbed my bag to walk out. Only while I did this the bartender/manager thought it was so funny he and his bartender mate should have a good laugh together about it.
Sharing my experience with my partner he then explains he had a similar experience with food ordering with the same bartender/manager!!
Yeah, not going back to this pretentious, arrogant mans bar again.
Go to the Bad Apple across the road. You will have a far better...
Read moreHad an awesome time here the other Sunday. Wanted somewhere local for some food and drinks after a walk at piney lakes with the family so decided on going here. Although it was busy there was plenty of seating options and staff were always ready to take our orders at the bar. Food was delicious as we had a big party so had plenty of dishes to try and everything was bang on and quick to come out, all fresh and tasty. Great drinks options too plenty to chose from whatever you would fancy. Also live music from an amazing local artist loved the old blues he was playing some of my favourites and songs you don’t often hear played live. Lots of things for the kids to enjoy seems they have things going on most weekends this time was a balloon artist and a face painter both were very kind and caring to the kids and they loved it. Also very nice addition of the teepee tents not sure how long they’ve had them in but we managed to nab one which had a reservation for the evening and we were there for early lunch and having a little baby with us it was fantastic for my sister to hide away in there when she needed too. All up can’t fault this place whatsoever and absolutely enjoyed every moment of being there staff great venue great atmosphere great food great drinks great what more can I say I think this place is great! If you haven’t been or a contemplating to go I promise you that you will make the best decision to go try them we...
