Kona Cafe Matcha May is a limited 2 nights pop-up dessert series! Second day is on the 29th🌛It’s worth putting it down on your calendar if you’re a matcha enthusiast or simply interested in matcha 🍵💚

𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐀 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐄 Served warm, this has a soft, fudgy center & an extra crunch from the matcha crumbs sprinkled on top. Earthy matcha flavour is prominent yet well-balanced when eaten together w the scoop of ice cream 🍨& blueberry 🫐 compote!

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝐏𝐔𝐃𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 (𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐚) I reallyyy wanted to try this cause this interesting combi is going viral in SG 🇸🇬 but I can’t fly back to try anytime soon :/ Might not be for everyone but I see what the hype is all about😝 Mellow sweetness from the creamy-smooth banana 🍌 custard pudding combined w strong, slightly bitter umami matcha sauce & garnished w crispy biscuit crumbs is yummms🤪 Tasted the matcha sauce on its own before pouring it over the pudding & it was richhhh, quality was there😌

Got a little heavy towards the end but I did enjoy it regardless ~

𝐃𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐊𝐒 Both drinks are visually appealing & so instagrammable!🤩 You’ve got the deep green colour, creativity, bold flavour & a little extra bitterness! But heyyy bitterness builds character right!? HHAHAHH🤣 Would’ve preferred it a little sweeter but if you love your matcha robust, these ones are for you.

𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 had a layer of 🍓 puree, followed by matcha, & another layer of 🍓cold foam on top. Vibrant 🩷+ 💚, this is slightly sweet, slightly tangy;)) Personally, I think that if the ratio of puree to matcha to foam is adjusted, it’ll be perfect😁

Lovely lavender-hued 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺💜 Bold green matcha beneath a thicc, subtly-sweet, velvety purple taro cream🫶🏻 But the taste? A bold contrast without enough of that taro sweetness which some may adore & others might find a little intense😛

Conveniently located the heart of where many great food outlets are, it’s a beautiful spot for a snack or coffee.

Came in for brunch and found a spot immediately. Service was quick and polite. The staff could even recommend some dishes when asked.

Ambience is great as many others have said; minimalist Scandinavian styled with light music in the background.

I ordered:

Drinks: Matcha latte and a dirty Red Velvet Latte. Both drinks were good. Nothing to shout about, but good. I’d definitely drop in for a coffee if I was in the area.

Food: Pumpkin soup, steak sandwich and crab rosti.

Pumpkin soup was a little tart and I think I tasted ricotta cheese in it which was different but interesting.

Steak sandwich was a bit of a letdown. The steak which was supposed to be a scotch fillet was so chewy I gave up eating it even after removing it and cutting it into little pieces. Chips were hot and tasted great.

The rosti was well cooked, moist on the inside and well plated with rocket salads and long cucumber cuts.

Overall the food was a bit of a letdown. Well plated dishes that looked pretty but left a little more to be desired.

Price for our meal was $81.70. A little on the steep side.

I would come by if I was in the area but wouldn’t drive...

It’s Lorraine’s birthday today! And to celebrate her special day we drove up 20mins to visit @kona.applecross and surely it didn’t disappoint us! Worth the travel to be honest!

Here’s the things that we ordered on our visit: -Reeses Peanut Butter Brownie 🥜 -Carrot Cake 🎂 -Spiced Prawns Benny 🍤 -Passion for Berries Pancakes 🥞 -Pumpkin Soup 🥣

Price wise, one of the cheapest café we visited so far and really worth every $$$.

Flavours, food was really tasty including the soup! We can’t find any mistakes on it so kudos to the kitchen team and management in developing a well balanced menu!

Ambiance, every corner of the café is Instagram worthy FOR REEEEAL! Everywhere you sit will be good to take snaps, it feels like you’re dining in at a very luxury place.

And lastly, Customer Service. Guys they tick all the box on creating a worth sharing experience! Very courteous, attentive, nice staff to mention some of it. One of the quickest service we ever had, after we placed the order our coffee arrived less than 3mins. and we’re in shocked thinking it might be wrong table since it’s full when we arrived 😂
