Kai's Cafe and Restaurant — Restaurant in Armidale

This is our new personal favourite place. The steak for lunch is perfection. I am an exceptionally picky steak person, I need rare, blue and it is always perfect. Also, this is the one place where things are seasoned well. I don't need to add salt or pepper. As someone who salted things before tasting in the past, just don't when you eat here, the chef does a perfect job! The flavour profiles of everything we eat is all well considered. It has now become common that we are eating breakfast and lunch here. My husband has been caught having sneaky brekkie stops because they have perfected his coffee order and the customer service is perfect. All of the baked goods are lovely and perfect way to end a meal. I just can't say enough how when I am having a |day" this is the go to. We have work meetings here now. Any excuse this...

The food (salmon) was good, but there is room for improvement.

It would be best to serve all the different ingredients separately in the plate, and not everything on top of each other, then everything gets mixed and it is not nice at all.

Moreover, we were the third table in the restaurant. Two tables of 3 people each, our table of 2. It took 45min to get our dishes served. We understand the place might be understaffed.

My partner's meal was overly salted, so could not finish it (scotch fillet), and not cooked to his liking (although he made sure with the waitress to get a properly cooked steak)

Good things the complimentary entrees with olive oil, bread and dukkah and the kindness of the staff.

It might take a while before we consider to go back next time, hopefully some things...

We were very excited to try this new restaurant, the staff were friendly and they looked after us. We had a complimentary toasted bread with oil and dukkah. Nice atmosphere,nice menu, and the plate were very well presented.

Unfortunately, the presentation is not everything. The scotch fillet was way overcooked(I kindly asked the waitress if she could make sure with the chef to cook the steak to my liking, and she assured me the steak will be how I asked it).

Another important point is that my dish was very, very, very salty. It ate some of it, but I couldn't manage to finish it as I was starting to feel unwell.

We waited 45 minutes for two mains, with two tables(3-4pp) before us.
